I had three heads of cabbage, a friend gave me, and I was looking for a recipe when I came across this. It went perfect with spicy turkey sausage hot off the grill. I substituted cream for the half and half and added a pinch of sugar to bring out the sweetness of the cabbage. For the previous reviewer whose dish curdled, it was not the butter but rather the half and half. Acidic foods will curdle half and half as it does not have a high enough fat content. If in doubt it is better to use cream or creme fraiche. If you only have milk or half and half on hand try stabilizing with a starch and temper prior to adding.

Hubs has asked that I specifically make a point to mention that he generally doesn't like cabbage, but he really liked THIS. Me too! Unfortunately, it seemed to almost curdle a bit once I added the half and half, and it wasn't as pretty to look at once I did. But it sure tasted good! I think next time I'll be sure to use less butter, as I think this may have been the reason for the somewhat curdled appearance. Great accompaniment to our pork roast!

LOVE this simple, but savory side dish. I made it exactly as the recipe described (I love that you can make it with things already in my pantry), and it was deliciously comforting. This is going to be a family favorite.

Pretty much tasteless. Ended up adding mustard and garlic to salvage it.

This recipe is one of my favorite sidedishes. It is so good. I usually double the recipe. My kids even like it.
