This is the best pot roast recipe. Every time I make it I get nothing but raves (except from my youngest who eats nothing except chicken nuggets, hot dogs or cookies).

This was good but I wasn't completely blown away by it. Honestly, though, maybe I am not nuts about pot roast so I'll give this 4 stars. Not sweet at all though, like others claimed and maybe that was bc I used diet dr pepper.

This was the BEST pot roast I have ever made, or eaten. I omitted the celery and added baby carrots, fresh whole mushrooms and small red potatoes. I was a bit apprehensive about cooking it for 5 hours, but I sold on this recipe after tasting it.

This is the BEST roast I have ever eaten... let alone made! Wasn't sweet at all and I used about 12-15 oz. of Pepsi. I stuck this in the slow cooker on high for 4 hours with 1 lb of baby carrots and chopped celery. Also used a whole packet of brown gravy mix. Sauce was very thin, but I added about 1/2 cup of instant potato flakes and that thickened it to the perfect consistency to serve over mashed potatoes. AWESOME meal! Thank you so much for this great recipe!

My favorite beef recipe. I make this in the crockpot once or twice a month. Use Dr Pepper and a little hot sauce.

Wow! I am a beginner and this is my first roast ever!!! I was so happy that it turned out so good. I added mushrooms, corn, potatoes, and extra carrots. I used about 16oz of diet pepsi and McCormicks pot roast seasoning. It was so good. I did not add a gravy mix. Just some beef base and some cornstarch for the gravy. Thanks for sharing and all of the adjustments in the reviews. This is making my learning experience to be positive!!!

This was excellent and so easy. 5 stars from hubby too who had no idea there was cola in it. Yummy with onions and lots and lots of carrots thrown in! Served with mashed potatoes and green beans. Will definately make again.

This dish has a great flavor! My roast was a little bit on the dry side, but that was probably the cut of the roast I used. Also, the "gravy" was more like soup in mine, but I just took the left-overs and put them all in one container and pulled the beef apart into pieces (it was effortless because it is so tender) and turned it into a stew for the next day, and it is soooo flavorful. The only variations I made were: I browned the roast first, and I used non-alcohol beer instead of cola. Oh, and I used baby carrots and added sliced portabella mushrooms. 5 stars for flavor and tenderness!

I only gave this 4 stars because I changed the recipe when I cooked this. I basically used this as a base recipe. I added onions, quartered red potatoes, baby carrots & celery. I mixed onion soup mix w/ cream of mushroom soup & brown gravy mix & garlic with 1 can of beer. poured on top of meat. topped off with 4 bay leaves.used crock pot.

My, this was tender. Used a pork roast which usually comes out a little tough for me. Not this time! 4 stars only because I didn't have cream of mushroom on hand - so I skipped it. Probably would have been better with it, though. I must say that I used Diet Pepsi (all I had) and I did not get an aftertaste nor was it too sweet like others have said. Maybe that's a key. Will definitely try again with all the ingredients next time.

I made this in a slow cooker. It sat all day and when I got home the meat was so juicy and tender. My husband said that this is the best dinner I have ever made and it is his new favorite. At first he wasn't too sure about the cola in it, and I told him it would taste great. I loved it, thanks for sharing!

This recipe is excellent. Very easy to make, but it is a little torturous to smell the delicious aroma for 4 hours! The meat was falling apart and very tender. Lots of delicious savory gravy. I think next time I'll add even more vegetables!

Absolutely awesome. Makes a wonderful gravy for potatoes. I did substitute beer for the cola, plus added fresh mushrooms. Delicious! Also, I assembled all the night before in a crock pot, then cooked next day, all day, on low. This is a wonderful comfort food! Thanks so much for the recipe!

Since it was just my husband and I, I only did about a 2 lb roast and cut all the times in half. The meat still tasted good but the carrots were not soft enough.

My picky husband ABSOLUTELY loved this! Wonderful AS IS! The only thing I would recommend would be to use more carrots! The carrots in this recipe come out delicious with the sauce so they go fast!
