I always have dates at home. And I make this recipe for years now. So, I ended up taking some for coworkers and keep it on my table in a jar. If the jar is empty, they push me for a re-fill … I don’t use butter or eggs, vanilla or sugar. I also don’t use heat… I knead the chopped dates with olive oil, add double the (here called for) rice crisps (I run of cereal a lot so I use digestive crackers instead). Oil my hand, shape then roll in: coconut flakes, roasted sesame seeds, chopped nuts “pistachio works great as a garnish on a candy tray”, crushed chocolate chips or chocolate cereal. Amazing result u get!!

Followed this recipe exactly. It came out perfect. I felt like a kid all over again. Yummy. My mother gave me a tip when rolling the balls. Put butter on your hands to stop the sticking.

OMG these were DELISH!!! I added 1 extra cup of rice cereal & used chopped roasted almonds instead of the pecans because that is what I had. I used a small ice cream like scooper and dropped them right into the coconut for rolling. It worked perfectly and was much less messy than rolling them by hand. I will definitely make these again.

Turned out perfect--and so yummy! We followed the advice and added the extra cereal as well--our double batch only made about 50, maybe I made them a little bigger than what is normal? Thanks!!

GREAT recipe! I took the suggestion of previous reviewers and used 2 cups of crisp rice cereal and they were absolutely fantastic! My 5 yr. old son really enjoyed helping me roll the balls in coconut :) I made the recipe x 1.5 and the proportions were still perfect. Thank you!!
