I, too, tweaked the recipe... I didn't get the milk in it... what taste it would enhance, so I used some of the pineapple juice -as suggested by another reviewer. I left out the marshmallows, too, because I was afraid they would make it too (artificially) sweet with the whipped topping. It turned out pretty good, therefore it's a good base recipe for each to tweak to their own taste.

This recipe is amazing! I have been making it for potlucks and parties for about three months and everyone loves it. I've been asked for the recipe several times and have had it requested for parties. This one is a keeper!

I have made this for nearly every Thanksgiving and Xmas for the last few years in addition to lunch parties. It is truly a great recipe, tastes great and looks great, especially with the cherries on top. Definitely a keeper. Thanks!

This is a quick and easy ambrosia recipe, but I think the true secret is to mix in a stick of softened cream cheese into the cool whip. It gives it a unique and really great flavor that everyone always raves about.

So easy. I don't even like ambrosia, typically, but I made it for thanksgiving and we all loved it, I mixed in the cherries, and I added walnuts, it was delish.

This recipe turned out to be delicious, especially the day after. I used light wipped cream and only used a few maraschino cherries as they are very flavourful. I thought the dry coconut I added stood out a bit especially the first day I made it because it's texture is different from anything else in the salad, so fresh coconut might be a better choice. Anyways, I loved the flavour the coconut gave it, it was delicious. Even my boyfriend liked it, he had 3 servings and he is a VERY picky eater! Thank you!

Very Good I added Apples and Toastes pecans & some of the coconut I only used between 1/4 - 1/2 a cup I only had 8 oz cool whip but it was still super. I Deleted the milk and added a couple TBS of the pineapple juice instead. also I bought pineapple chunks insead of crushed.. It was still great.

This is a simple to make yet delicious ambrosia salad. One thing to observe is if the coconut flakes being used are old and too dry, they will not get moist even after refrigerating the salad overnight. So, be sure to use only fresh and moist coconut.

AWESOME, worthy of more than 5 stars in my book. This is exactly the recipe I had been searching for. I also added a couple of tablespoons orange juice after everything is combined. It helps flavor the whipped cream and also makes the marshmallows softer. Just heavenly, you won't be disappointed!

This was very good, and even better the next day. I was a little confused about what to do with the cherries, so I ended up mixing them into the whole thing and they ended up being the best part!

YUM! My 19-yr. old daughter made this for a family cookout and it was delicious! We've always used pineapple chunks in ambrosia but she used the crushed pineapple and everyone thought that made it even better. Thanks Didi!

I LOVE this recipe. The only thing I do differently is I do not drain the pineapple & I delete the milk. This salad has a lot of coconut, which is great if you love coconut. I also make it the night before so the marshmallows have a chance to soak up the liquid & get all soft & foamy. Letting it sit overnight with the cherries also gives it a slight pink tint which is great for baby showers or baptisms for little girls. Also makes a nice salad for bridal showers, Easter or picnics. Could also be used as a light dessert.

This is what I have been looking for! My Nana made this all the time when I was growing up and this is as close as I will ever get to it! My very picky kids loved it too! I hate cherries- so they go on the side as a topping. And, since I have coconut hating people in the family, I make toasted coconut and too is put on the side as topping. Overall- wonderful, wonderful. I just add whatever fruit I have in the house (drained in a colander for an hour or so) when I make this!!

I will definitely be making this again. I took suggestions from other people - used less coconut, less whipped topping, substituted sour cream for milk, added some pineapple juice, more fruit, and added green grapes. I realized after serving that I had forgotten the cherries, but that didn't matter in the least. It was gone in a matter of minutes.
