Cocoa Almond Bread

"With its subtle cocoa and almond flavors, this bread is heavenly. Serve slices with hot chocolate for a scrumptious snack."
Original recipe yield 1 (1 1/2 pound) loaf

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup warm milk (70 to 80 degrees F)
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup baking cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 1/8 cups bread flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast

DIRECTIONS

  1. In bread machine pan, place all ingredients in order suggested by manufacturer. Select basic bread setting. Choose crust color and loaf size if available. Bake according to bread machine directions (check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed).
