A friend gave us a bunch of ground venison, which I don't like. But, this recipe made it fabulous! I've tried it since with ground beef and will make it for years to come. It's also good as an entre served over steamed rice. The cranberry flavor just rocks.

I've used this recipe on several occasions - New Year's Eve, Housewarming party and other parties - and I've never received anything but compliments for it. As cranberrry jelly is quite hard to find in Norway, I've substituted it with redcurrant jelly on one occasion, and raspberry jam on others - and never had anyone guess the difference. Big thumbs up - and it is definitely something to keep on bringing along to parties and potlucks.

Yummy, yummy, yummy! I used frozen meatballs to save time but followed the recipe to the T. I don't know what kind of chili sauce the recipe writer had in mind but the one that I used was quite spicy leading some of our guest to complain that they were hot but that didn't stop them from eating more until they emptied the crockpot! Will definately be making these again.

This is pretty close to my standard recipe, too. I use whatever I have on hand as the "filler", whether it be bread crumbs, oatmeal, cracker crumbs, leftover cooked rice, etc. One thing I always had trouble with was that they tended to fall apart once they were in the crockpot with the sauce. On the advice of a friend, I tried rolling the raw meatballs in flour before browning them in oil. This method really helps! I make a huge batch of them, making sure they're cooked through, then line them up on jelly-roll pans and stick them in the freezer. Once frozen, they can go into zip-lock bags and be handy for whenever I need a quick dish.

These meatballs were delicious! The sauce was incredible. I will admit that I used frozen meatballs. The cranberry sauce makes these so flavorful. At the end of the cooking, I added a container of BBQ sauce (I used Sweet Baby Rays brand) and mixed it all together and it turned out fabulous!!!!!!!

Thank you for this recipe! I originally made these for a summer barbecue and they were a HIT! I've made them three times now, and each time they've been delicious. I follow the recipe exactly, though I don't think they need a full hour to simmer on the stove. Be sure to chop the onions very fine, or use shallots for a more mild flavor. I'd like to try using panko breadcrumbs next time.

FANTASTIC! I can only rate the sauce as I used Trader Joe's pre-made meatballs, which I also recommend. I added 2+ tablespoons of hot sauce to the sauce and it was amazing! These were even better the second day.

I made the sauce as written exactly. We didn't like the cranberry flavor. Will not make again. Still trying to find the perfect cocktail meatball.

These are good but not the best. I am still trying to find the perfect meatball recipe. My guests liked them however. The thought of the cranberry doesnt set right with me.

I made these for a "finger food" party, using frozen non-italian meatballs and Heinz sauce, doubling the sauce to use all the meatballs. They were not gobbled down at the party, and in fact there were more than half leftover. They were terribled re-heated, and we ended up throwing them out. I didn't think they were bad freshly made, but they certainly weren't as good as I was expecting either. I won't make them again.

These meatballs are surprisingly delicious! As we warmed the sauce, my initial doubts grew! Cranberry and chili did not seem a perfect pair. I was wrong! I used Sam's Club Italian style frozen meatballs...(was preparing tons of food for my daughter's birthday party and needed to save time somewhere.) After baking the meatballs for 25 minutes, I added them and the sauce to an already warm crockpot. Very tasty! A recipe that I would surely use again.
