Made this recipe and the sauce is delicious! I doubled the recipe and left out the zucchini. I added fresh sliced mushrooms and meatballs. I used honey instead of sucanat. I cooked the sauce in the slow cooker on high for 4 hours and low for another hour adding in the fresh sliced mushrooms for that last hour. It was better than any store bought sauce I have ever tasted. Froze the leftovers and had it for another meal. Absolutely wonderful!

This was hugely satisfying over spaghetti squash. I subbed 1/2 T of honey for the called-for sucanat.

The flavor is very good. However, the gallon of water left it soupy rather than saucy. I would recommend tripling the amount of tomato sauce used and cut back on the water.

This is a wonderful recipe. I plan to use it at our next soup kitchen meal. To a previous reviewer - the gallon of water is for cooking the pasta.

For Jessica; You probably realize this already, so this is to clear up any confusion for the newbies. The salted water at the end is the one gallon of water and the salt needed to cook the whole wheat pasta. It is not meant to be added to the sauce. Saucy indeed. Made me smile.
