By far the best clam chowder I have ever had! My Family and Friends agree! I made this for Suberbowl and other gatherings and it was a hit! One time I even mixed it with premade Tuscan Tomato Basli Bisque (A little spicy) and it created another amazing dish! This recipe will be passed around to My Family and Friends and definitely made again........and again! :)

I'm giving this 3 stars because we did miss the bacon, and there was to much mushroom flavor for my taste. I didnt put mushrooms in along with the mushroom soup, I used a little bit of fresh leeks instead. Maybe we'll try it again with bacon.

Great base recipe! I halved the recipe. Used butter instead of margarine. Did not have clam juice so drained juice from 2 cans of clam. Used white wine but also added 1/4 tsp chicken base, and used black pepper instead of white. Also used Yukon gold potatoes instead of red because that is what I had on hand. Right before serving I added a bit of skim milk to thin it out. Tasted like comfort food & better than soup from a can. Will make again!

Great chowder! I thickened it up a bit and only added half the salt..

This was a great start but I added a few things. I added carrots, and minced garlic and sautéed them with the celery and onions. Then instead of just cream of mushroom soup, I added one can of each cream of mushroom, cream of potato, and cream of celery, and a pint of heavy whipping cream. With these changes it was amazing!

I love this healthier version of a great winter classic! I also tweaked it a little by using 3 cans of mushroom soup, 1/2 cup of wine and 1/2 cup of chicken broth. I didnt miss the bacon at all!

Instead of cream of mushroom, I substitute one can cream of potato, one can cream of chicken. I have made this both on the stove top and in the crockpot - tastes great both ways.

This was delicious! I was searching for a recipe similar to my sister's since I couldn't find it, and this was quite close, so I thought I'd give it a try. It was hard for us to believe, since my sister is an amazing cook, but this was actually better than hers! I left out the mushrooms because I don't like them, and replaced one can of the cream of mushroom with cream of celery. I used 1/4 cup white cooking wine and 1/4 cup chicken broth, I added two cans of tiny shrimp (drained) at the end with the clams. My husband, who is a serious whiner about anything soup-like raved about this chowder! This recipe will be a keeper for this family for sure!
