This cake was delicious! I used orange AND lemon zest. I also made a glaze with butter, confectioners sugar and fresh lemon & orange juice instead of just sprinkling sugar on the cake and was very pleased with the results!
I liked the texture and moistness of this cake, but it lacks flavour. Noting the previous reviewer's advice, I put the zest of two oranges in the cake, and then the zest of two more in a glaze (along with the juice of all four oranges) and I still don't think it has great orange flavour. It's a nice pound cake, but that's really it.
I used dannon vanilla yogurt and a teaspoon of almond extract also one cup of chopped walnuts...a good for you cake. : )
Delicious. Everybody liked it. Using yogurt instead of whipping cream or sour cream is a healthier alternative.
Delicious! I had lots of old yogurt that I had to use and this came in handy. Most yogurt cake recipes call only for a 1/2 cup of yogurt per a batch but this called for 2 cups per a batch so I was able to use up my yogurt faster. Great moist texture and taste. I will defiantly make this again.
This is a really nice cake recipe for when you want a little something when company drops by. Perfect with coffee! I did make one change - I personally don't like the taste of olive oil in sweet recipes - so I used Grapeseed oil instead - came out great! I also used the zest of FIVE small lemons - and in addition to the vanilla extract - I also added 1 tsp. of almond extract. After the cake was done - I made a glaze from confectioners' sugar, the juice of 2 lemons, 1/2 tsp. of almond extract, and a couple of drops of yellow food coloring. Will use this again - next time I'll make an orange cake!
