Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 3/4 cups sugar, divided
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and 2 cups sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla; mix well. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream.
  2. Spoon a third of the batter into a greased and floured 10-in. tube pan. Combine the cinnamon, nuts and remaining sugar; sprinkle a third over batter. Repeat layers twice. Bake at 350 degrees F for 65-70 minutes or until toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing form pan to a wire rack.
