This is absolutely the best! My family loved it. I had a lot of apples from our neighbors and this was the perfect solution for the huge bag of apples we had. I did reduce the cinnamon a tiny bit as well as the sugar, but this may be sue to the variety of apples (Liberty) that I used.

This turned out well. I didn't have to add any water as some have suggested; the apples gave off enough water during cooking. I found it to be a little too sweet, but then again, maybe my apples weren't tart enough. I also didn't mash the apples. It was saucy enough without that, but I used softer apples too.

Amazing! Used a 3lb bag of granny smiths and added some of the peelings (slivered) for texture. Also used half the brown sugar and added nutmeg and cinnamon to taste. My son's favorite!

I decreased the sugar by half, doubled the vanilla, and left the peel on. Success!!!

Used granny Smith apples and followed the recipe exactly. With some adjustments it has the potential of being a five star recipe.

I love fried apple slices, but this is a much healthier alternative. The brown sugar/vanilla combo can't be beat! Added about a tblsp of water to start the cooking process, but uncovered the apples during the last few minutes to let the liquid boil down to syrup consistency. I chose not to mash the apples but leave them in chunks.

Talk about quick and easy!! This is a recipe I will use over and over. I put it on the stove when we sat down to dinner and it was ready to serve (vanilla ice cream would have been good!) as we cleared the table. Thanks for sharing.

Delicious! Reminds me of Cracker Barrel's baked apples. Didn't think it was too sweet, but I LOVE sweet. :)

Worked out perfectly - use a little less sugar then it calls for and then taste and add more half way through the cooking time if needed. Mine was a little too sweet, but still very good.

I liked this recipe, but did make a few alterations. I used more apples, but less sugar. I used Splenda 1/2 and 1/2 brown sugar, the same amount of vanilla and a bit more cinnamon. I didn't peel the apples (Jonathon) and the skins gave it a pretty rosy color. I also added a couple handsful of Craisins.I thickened the juice with cornstarch just before I took it off the stove. It was more like apple pie filling than applesauce. Very good.

Okay...This was my first attempt at applesauce! It turned out great, and was really sweet. I would compare it to the side of apples you get at Outback when you order the pork chops. Really sweet and cinnamon-ie... But I loved it!!

I made this today and was kind of disappointed. I don't really like the flavor the vanilla adds. I will stick with Sarah's Applesauce from this site. Not a waste...the kids seem to like it. Thanks anyway.

delicious! really great, but really sweet! I happen to love it, but it's not necessarily your traditional applesauce...perhaps cutting the sugar like the other reviewer said is key

I used Golden Dels that I had on hand and added ~1/4 c. of water and a dash of nutmeg to make it a little juicier. Very yummy. Thanks for sharing.

This is ridiculously good. A little on the sweet side, but if that is what you are looking for, this recipe is amazing. I think you could cut the sugar in half (or even almost out) and have a more natural style of chunky applesauce. The vanilla is a great touch.
