I followed this recipe as specified, except I used less breadcrumbs - it was a hit! It was creamy and crusty and re-heated very well with a tiny splash of milk. Thanks for posting.

Great recipe! First time I made it as per the directions it was awsome but was a bit dry. The second time I made it I added 3/4 cup milk and threw in some ham and broccoli it was Awsome!!

My favorite food is macaroni and cheese, so I was happy to try a new recipe. My whole family liked this when I made it, but next time I will add milk to make it saucier and cut the topping ingredients in half. Definitely worth making!

This is excellent and super easy to make. I've made the tradional bechamel white sauce and added cheese ot toher recipes, but this one is even better. I made it for a Sunday afternoon football gathering and it got great reviews. Kids and adults enjoyed it. Even my picky eater son had second helpings! It was very moist, and the sharp chedder brings out the cheesy goodness. I buttered the baking dishes to make clean up easy. I will make this again! I did try to vary the recipes by adding some diced smoked turkey which was fine, but this recipe needs no alterations.

I will definitely be making this one again! It was by far the best mac and cheese I've ever had. The cottage cheese sounded weird to me, but it helps make this so rich and creamy. I did cut back on the bread crumbs as suggested by others, and I'm glad I did. I doubled the recipe but only used about a half cup of bread crumbs and it was plenty.

I love it! I made this for Thanksgiving. Mind you this is my second time making Mac and Cheese. The firt time I made it I put too much milk in and it was horrible. I was so proud that it came out so gooood! I followed the directions and it came out so well. I will be making my mac and cheese this way from now on!

I thought this was one of the best recipes for mac and cheese I have made. The only problem that I had was it was way too sharp. Next time I make this I will go with a mild cheddar and see how it turns out.

Put entire recipe together the night before Thanksgiving and into the fridge. All I had to do on on the busy day was to toast bread for breadcrumbs, melt the butter and do a pour over and pop in the oven for about 35 min. Turned out perfect. My MIL hates homemade mac and cheese but she couldn't get enough of this one. The sour cream takes the cheesy out of it and gives it a great twist. Thanks so much for a great recipe!

Fabulous! Everyone scarfed this down and want me to make it all the time. Just added a couple dashes of ground mustard and used ritz crackers instead. My husband and mother in law can't stand mac and cheese but they raved about this!

There wasn't anything I liked about this dish. I did leave off the bread crumbs...maybe they were the key ingredient, I don't know. It just wasn't the smooth, creamy, cheesy dish I thought it would be.
