I used whole wheat pasta and halved the bread crumb topping. Tasted sourish and the white cottage cheese is unexpected to see. Wanted more of a traditional savory cheddary taste.

This is my new go to recipe for mac and cheese. I use extra sharp cheddar and a good dose of cayenne pepper to give it some zing. I leave off the bread crumbs. This stuff disappears instantly when I make it. Thanks for the recipe!

Very good. Too much breadcrumbs for us...so next time I will use 1/2 of what recipe calls for. Great recipe to give someone who just had a baby, is sick or just needs a meal.

This was heavenly! Very rich. Wow. The whole family raved and we all stuffed ourselves. The only thing we changed was used we penne pasta, rather than elbow as we prefer a denser noodle. And this sauce was more than a perfect match for a heavier pasta. Bread crumbs were just the right topping too. Highly recommend this recipe.

My daughter liked this but my son was not thrilled with it. I only thought it was okay; I think I would add more cheddar next time for more taste.

I don't like cottage cheese so I don't think it would be fair for me to give it a lower rating because of that. Only reason why I tried this recipe is because I wanted a simple mac n cheese recipe. This came out real creamy. The only changes/differences was that I used shell pasta and did not add the crumb topping. Other than the fact I had to get over the fact that there was cottage cheese in here, it was pretty good for a simple mac n cheese.

The only reason why I gave this FAB recipe a 4 is b/c it was a lil dry for me ... I will make this again for sure cause it was great, but I think I will add some milk next time. Thanks for sharing

This is the best baked mac and cheese ever! I will use this recipe forever. I added a little more shredded cheese than called for and added itlaian bread crumbs a little more than the recipe called for as well. You won't be disappointed

Minus out most or all of the bread crumbs and this is a winner! It surprisingly tastes really good with the inclusion of sour cream and cottage cheese. The bread crumbs ruined it in my opinion; It tasted like eating breaded mac n chz - ick! If I altered this recipe in any fashion I would just add some red bell pepper and mushrooms.

This was really good stuff - best baked mac and cheese I've made yet! It's still missing a little something - maybe next time I'll add more seasoning (added garlic, paprika and hot sauce this time around) or try some ricotta cheese instead of cottage cheese.
