To the best of my knowledge, this recipe came from the early days in Colorado...or from the cattle trails leading into Colorado. It is a cowboy recipe and the ingredients can be varied, depending on what's available. In the old days, you couldn't always find what you needed...and sometimes it's fun to vary the ingredients.

Good and hearty. Steak, barbecue sauce and a bowl of fresh greens - this would be fun barbecue fare. Grill the steaks and plop onto the salad.

If you like baked beans, you'll savor this robust wrap. Wendy Conger of Winfield, Illinois combines canned baked beans, ground beef and corn, then rolls it up in tortillas. 'I was wondering what to fix for dinner one night and came up with this,' Wendy writes. My husband raved about it! It's fast and easy to make, too.'

Based on the ingredients of the lula kebab, this Middle Eastern-derived recipe uses ground lamb, carrots, and white beans to create a tasty stew-like dish for serving over rice. It's good for those one-bowl meals and reheats well. The flavors get even better after a day.
