I've made this for years now and everyone loves it. I use Pillsbury crescent rolls to line the bottom and sides and it comes out nice and fluffy. I also use Christmas tree shaped baking pans for a beautiful presentation!

I make this recipe at least 3 times at Christmas... and it's a hit everywhere I take it. I usually substitute regular mustard for the powder, and it still gets rave reviews. It's so easy, I usually double the recipe and make it in my stone bake ware pan - which keeps it hot and travels very well.

Be sure to toast the bread. I didn't and it was a little mushy but the taste was still there. I love the flavor onion gives so I added about a 1/4 cup, chopped. This was a yummy casserole!

I made this today as a test run before Christmas. WOW!! My husband and I loved it. Here were my changes, based on other reviews. I used 2 tsp mustard powder, 6 eggs, fat free half and half, texas toast, Jimmy Dean maple sausage, and an 8x11 pan. We also had a little for lunch, so it saves and reheats well. For cheese, I used a Sargento cheddar blend with bacon, so bacon was a nice addition. I do believe I found a new Christmas tradition! Thanks for posting this! --------------------------------------UPDATE: I made this Christmas morning and it was indeed a smash hit with the rest of the family. I didn't use texas toast the second time and preferred it much better, as texas toast is larger and soaks up too much of the sauce making it drier. I also used 6 eggs, regular breakfast sausage, regular shredded cheddar, yellow mustard from the bottle, and hash browns mixed in for texture. By the time the presents were unwrapped and we cleaned up, breakfast was served! You wont' be disappointed if you try this.

Really delicious and a bit hit with my guests. I needed a 13 x 9 pan so I used 6 eggs instead of 4. I also used sharp cheddar instead of mild. Finally, I had leftover ciabatta so I sliced and toasted it before cutting it into cubes. You just need enough to cover the bottom of the pan in a single layer. YUMMY!

This recipe is really good. I make it every year for Christmas. I make it the night before, pop it in the oven and cook while the kids open their presents. Take it out and then it sets right up while the kids go through there toys they got. Works perfect.

I hope this saves well. I really want to give this 4 stars, but my daughter says I'm pushing it. Maybe if I would have made it with bacon? Very easy and is really good if you love breakfast. We aren't BIG breakfast eaters. I am going to re rate this only because if it saves well I will change my rating to 4 stars. No one was here to eat it this morning. :( ***Update it is just as good if not better warmed up. I froze some that were left over and those are good as well. My daughter even told me to re rate it.***

Really good. I used whole-wheat toast instead of white and six eggs instead of four because I wanted to make sure I had enough casserole. It looked dry before baking, so I drizzled 1/2 cup milk over - not sure if this was necessary, but it turned out well. I'll make this again.

This is so great! I added two extra eggs, green bell pepper, only used 1/2 cup of cheese and used my 8x11 pan. We will be making this for Christmas morning! Thanks for sharing!

Absolutely amazing! Many members of my family who have been making breakfast casseroles for years LOVED this recipe more than any they had tried! I browned beef, bacon and sausage together with onion and pepper, about 3 days ahead of time, and froze them together so the flavors could fully blend.

I made this for my husband last night and he loved it! I did a few changes myself. I used 6 eggs, and used half a pound of maple sausage, and half a pound of maple bacon. I also added some chopped onions. I will definetly be making this again.

Excellent dish. I made this for my husband and his friends for the morning of their golf outing. The changes I made were adding real bacon pieces and cubed ham. I left out the onions because I didn't have any and based on other reviews, I used 6 eggs and about 1 1/2 cups of milk. The guys said it was awesome!

THis is really good and has become the Christmas morning tradition in our house. I love being able to put it together the night before and having breakfast "make itself" Christmas morning while I'm busy watching the kiddos with their presents! Our family doesn't eat pork so I make it with either turkey or beef sausage or even Gimmie Lean veggie sausage. It always turns out just right. YUM!
