"This is a nice winter soup that will warm you up after being outside in the snow! This is great as a meal with some crusty French bread. I sometimes add a can of white beans."

1 (16 ounce) package
Portuguese chourico sausage, diced
cabbage, coarsely chopped
1 (15 ounce) can
mixed vegetables, drained
chopped fresh parsley
ground red pepper
I made this stew and was wonderful. I also sent it to my nurse and she love it too.
Didn't add any veggies except for cabbage. Just lazy I guess. Added 2 extra cups of water because I like stews/soups real brothy. I also added more of the amount of spices it asks because flavor is important in this portuguese home. And tons of onion powder, because I love it, salt & pepper. Also added that tip about white beans...good call! So yummy on a cruddy day!
Just making it now...didn't have the mixed veggies but everything else. Very yummy..will make it again. I also added a can of white beans.
