The cake always turns out perfect but I've yet to make an icing that I'm pleased with -- that said, they always fly off the platter, people LOVE them regardless of how the icing turns out in my opinion...they are still stellar!

Love the recipe! Great for cupcakes, as well. Bake at mentioned temp. for 17-19 min. For the frosting, I used a hot, strong brewed coffee instead of milk. Roughly about 1/3 cup. Also added a couple drops of almond extract (goes a very long way). Very rich flavor.

This recipe is awesome! I am a pretty good cook, but not a great baker when it comes to cakes. I usually stick to box mixes so I can have a nice, moist cake. I just ate the last piece two days after I made it, and it is still delicious and moist. I did sub in the one cup of coffee for the water like another reviewer recommended, and I used light sour cream, as it was all I had on hand. Absolutely fantastic! Thanks for this great recipe!

I made this for a friend's birthday & it tasted good but the cake itself had white bumps in it (not chewy) just visually looked liked bugs were baked in it. Maybe I added the hot mixture to the eggs too soon altho I tried to get them at room temperature before doing so.

This cake turned out really well. The sweetness was a bit over powering to me, but it was good. In fact, when I was making it almost everything that could go wrong did go wrong (including my oven catching on fire) but it still turned out delicious! I and my 5 guests really enjoyed it!

I would give this more stars if I could. It was awesome. I was craving an easy chocolate cake one afternoon and made this recipe without the frosting. It was just delicious, I'm already planning how many other ways I will make it (cupcakes, grooms cake, etc).
