These are fantastic! I used Wilton gel colors to give them a marble red and green effect for Christmas. I'll definitely be using this recipe often.

Oh my - just amazing! I did put mine in the freezer for about 5 minutes before I dipped them. Then used a large serving fork to help me flip them in the chocolate. Worked great! They are addictive!

Like others, I also rolled the dough into a log and then cut into pieces AFTER I froze the dough. Half way through I should have frozen again b/c the dough started to become sticky which made it hard for me to dip. I think the taste is really good, just a bit too much mint for my liking but easy enough to change next time. I also thought it was a bit time consuming, needed another method to dip the chocolate mine did not work out so well. Most likely I will make again!

These are delicious. It is the same as the Peppermint Patties recipe on this site. (That is the one I originally used. They taste just like the real peppermint patties. I used dark chocolate. Yum!

Yummy. I had to add more peppermint extract for taste (but that could've been the brand I was using). I also broke up little pieces of candycane for on top. I would really recommend using a double boiler and actually dipping them while on the stove, because my chocolate kept hardening very quickly.

These are delicious! I used a small stainless steel scoop to form the balls, and they were the perfect size. If you have trouble dipping them then they just need to be refrigerated longer. I made the peppermint portion in the morning, and then left them in the refrigerator all day and dipped them at night. I had no trouble with the peppermint falling apart. These will definitely be added to my candy recipe box.

Followed the directions exactly but the chocolate was way to thick to dip and the patties were too thin for the chocolate. What a mess and waste of good ingredients!

Yum... delicious. It will be so nice to give these as gifts for Chirstmas. I had trouble with the mint melting when dipped into the chocolate so this is what I did: 1.Put the mint in the freezer after forming into patties. 2.Use a soup spoon to hold the mint and a small spoon to pour the chocolate onto the mint. Use the small spoon to smooth the top and wipe excess off on big spoon; then when you do the next mint, swipe the bottom of the mint on the glob on the bottom of big spoon and proceed as above. I made the mint mixture in my mixer and ended up needing to use the dough hook. Thanks for the lovely recipe.

i just dipped these, and they look amazing. I used a wire egg dipper that is used to dye easter eggs, and it was so easy. I also used an offset spatula to slide them onto wax paper. I can't wait to taste them!!

I've been making these candies for years, ever since I learned how to do it as a child. This is probably one of my most favorite candies to make during the Christmas season. It's great to include the kids, too. TIP: I usually add a couple crushed candy canes for a contrast in texture and more peppermint flavor.

I had fun with this. I haden't made X-mas cookies and candies for a few years, so I decided to put together a few items this year. I've been in the kitchen all day, and you'd think this being the final project I'd be ready to get it done! I did concoct a dipping spoon out of a metal skewer I had, it's in the photo I posted. I colored my mints pink and green, and really wanted a little color in this presentation, so I didn't dip some of them, I just piped a little chocoloate squiggle on the tops. I believe it will package well. Thanks for the recipe. Oliver, my mint lover will flip over these!

What a simple yet impressive holiday recipe. I tinted the filling green for Christmas, and I'll try pastels for Easter. Be careful not too add to much sugar or they will be a little dry.

Well, this was an interesting thing to try. I wouldn't say it's an "easy" recipe, but it is straightforward and not complicated, though it's more time-consuming than anything else. Dipping the patties definitely required some trial and error, and I walked out of the kitchen more or less covered in chocolate, but it was a fun thing to try and the end result was tasty.

So easy! Great recipe. I used a fork to dip them and they looked great. I may make them a bit bigger next time, but other than that, they were perfect.

I found these to be very easy to make. I only refrigerated the patties for about 20 minutes before coating them, and they turned out just fine. Dark chocolate chips worked great! I think that the next time I will make them into smaller patties or balls, as the flavor is quite full and I think would be better enjoyed in a smaller portion.

I made these for christmas for my family. I had such a hard time with them I almost threw them in the garbage, all I could smell was chocolate for the whole night. I don't think I added enough icing sugar, I definetly had more than 4 cups but the dough was a bit soft so when I shaped them in balls they spread by themselves. I also had trouble with the chocolate melting nicely, then to dip the patties into the chocolate caused some melting of the patties. The end result, not so perfectly dipped chocolate patties with rave reviews from my family. That is why there are getting 3 stars, due to level of difficulty the chef had making them.
