I had high hopes for this recipe but the cream cheese filling gives it an odd flavor (and I love all the ingredients, just not together). Sorry, I can't recommend this one.

I used a vanilla cake mix, added about 2/3 cup quick oats to the crust and omitted the peanuts on top. All in all, they were pretty good. I did not have time to let them chill before cutting them and I also could not chill them before they were eaten. I'm sure if I would have let them set in the refrigerator they would have been even more delicious!

I was going to submit this recipe, but found it was already here(I get Light n Tasty and Simple & Delicious magazines). These are soooo good! They are deadly, I have no will power, when they are around. I always have yellow cake on hand, so I use it instead of white. Also, I just sprinkle chocolate chips on top, I omit the nuts(figure they have enough nutty taste in the crust and cream cheese layer). If you are a chocolate, peanut butter lover, these are for you.

I am so glad to be the first to review this recipe because it is just so DARN good that hopefully my review will help get it off to a good start. I made this exactly as written, and these bars are perfectly delicious. So good you can't just eat one without going for another! The crust is tender and has a mild peanut buttery flavor. The cream cheese filling is rich and creamy, almost fudge-like in consistency but softer. And the topping of peanuts and chocolate chips puts this right over the top. This tastes like a peanut butter pie I had in a famous restaurant in Washington DC, and it all began with a simple cake mix and a few ingredients most home cooks have on hand! Simple to throw together, delicious, and pretty too! Can't give enough praise to this great recipe. I will make a point to always have a white cake mix in my pantry! Oh, and the bars cut easily and neatly too. Thanks for this recipe Sue!
