I changed this recipe quite a bit from lack of chocolate chips and a desire to not have nuts in them so instead I put the toffee bits directly into the mix and baked. I also added a third more of the ingredients so I could make a 13x9 inch pan. Baked on 450 for 12 minutes and the smell of the melty toffee is tantalizing and the taste is awesome, not to sweet and nice and crunchy

I will definitely make these again with one change: I will line the pan with foil. Though I greased the pan, it was insufficient to overcome the oats and corn syrup and I ended up getting an upper-body workout digging these out of the pan. But like I said, I'll be making these again because they are good!

yum! With the corn syrup my crust was just sweet enough. Delicious!! I made a batch for my bachelor pastor and he RAVED about them.

These are good! I baked my oat crust for 8 minutes. I can see how it might get to crunchy if you bake it too long. You want it to stay a little moist so it's chewy instead of crunchy. They are really chewy so not good if you have jaw problems. :) I added a layer of melted caramel under the layer of chocolate because I had all these caramels I didn't know what to do with. And I only had dark chocolate chips. mmmm. I also added a tablespoon of white sugar to the oatmeal crust because someone said it wasn't sweet enough. It was perfect. Really enjoyed these. Will make again.

This recipe is, indeed, easy to make. It takes no time at all to throw together, and the end product looks like something you spent a LONG time making. They are lovely and simple. That said, my husband and I were very disappointed in these. The texture is very much like a hard granola bar--crunchy and dry and a big crumb-y mess to eat. For having such rich ingredients, the flavor isn't very complex/rich. They certainly don't taste BAD. I mean...it's butter, oats, chocolate chips, and toffee. How bad could they be, right? But. This recipe is not a chewy, decadent dessert. It's more of a sweet, crunchy snack reminiscent of the brick-like boxed granola bars from when my generation were children. I was disappointed in this recipe and will not likely make it again. Frankly, I cannot understand all the glowing reviews that make this recipe sound so special.

I thought these were okay. The crust could have been a little sweeter

These bars are so easy to make and they seem to be a real crowd pleaser. I add a little more Heath because I love it and double it every time. A great recipe, so simple to make and great to bring to a get-together.

because I am allergic to oats, I broke off a corner and sampled. YUMMY. I am taking it to Bunco and know that I am going to get "uuu's" and "mmmmm's" so I have copies of the recipe on hand. I just might have to taste it when I get there to see how it held up during the car ride. ha!ha! (bringing my Zyrtec with) THANK YOU for sharing.
