Seriously SO good! I took the advice of other reviewers and used a boxed brownie mix, however I would reccomend using two boxes in a 9x13 sized pan, 1 box made the brownies a little thin with loads of mint. I used peppermint extract (1 tsp) instead of the creme de menthe liqueur. The chocolate topping was WAY too buttery (6 tablespoons was way too much 2 or 3 would have been perfect) so I added another cup of chocolate chips, which turned out perfect. I melted the butter and chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 second intervals, only took about 1 min. They were so yummy! Took them to a party and everyone asked for the recipe, it's so easy to make too. Yummy! Thanks for the recipe, I've been looking to spice up brownies for a while now and this was the first time I've tired.

these were amazing! everyone at the party i took them too LOVED them, i left out the green food coloring because i had none and it looked fine. I wonder if you could substitute cream cheese for the butter in the mint creme to cut down on the fat a bit?

I read the reviews and then made the recipe as presented. They were good, but I agree that the base wasn't just right. Next time I'll follow the recommendations and use a purchased brownie mix for the base. I took them to a potluck and they flew out of the pan!

This recipe was really easy to make and it tasted great. I made only two changes to the recipe. First, I didn't have Creme de Menthe and couldn't find it on short notice, so I used 2 1/2 tsps of mint extract. I think it gave the brownies the perfect level of mintiness. everyone thought I had topped them with Andes Mints. Second, I did not use butter when melting the chocolate chips. The result of this is that the chocolate on top of the brownies was hard to cut, but they tasted great. In the future, I will definitely reduce the amount of butter and use some oil. I think the butter makes the recipe a bit heavy.

They were ok. Brought them for a friend's bday at work and really wished I had made my own brownie base, but they got eaten and tasted pretty good. But I really recommend making your own base- 4 eggs? That just made it so chewy- not in a yummy gooey way- more like a kitchen sponge.

I made this with a store bought brownie mix. I thought that made this a little to sweet. This brownie recipe makes a little less sweet brownie to off set the very sweet topping. I will use this recipe next time for the brownie. I will only rate the topping this time which was fantastic. I took to a church function and everyone loved them. I did use mint extract instead of the liqueur.

I made these brownies for a bake sale at my sons school. They flew! They are a real crowd pleaser, only I used mmmmm better brownies recipe as the brownies base and added the icing sugar and chocolate glaze to it. It was awsome!

Although not the thick chunky brownies I had expected, these brownies tasted great - the next day. Don't bother rating this recipe until day 2 because you'll wish you'd rated them higher! Because I am a huge fan of mint, I added a 1/2 tsp of mint extract to the batter as well, and lowered the sugar because of the high sugar-content of the syrup. Still fantastic!

I made this using a boxed brownie mix, as was suggested by other reviewers. For the mint flavoring, I used a bit of mint extract instead of the liqueur. It came out great and was even better the day after. For the future, I'll remember to use green food coloring to get that minty look, if I use the extract again.

My five star rating is only for the mint filling and chocolate topping because I used a box for the brownies. ~ I used an 8x8 pan so mine were thick and after making them a few times, decided for my small pan they are better when I cut the frosting in half! If you are substituting mint extract use very little; start with 1/4 tsp with 2 T of milk to make it cream together. Too much mint makes it taste like toothpaste! Green food coloring gives it a minty look!

These are the best ever. When I'm in a real hurry and want something really over the top but don't have time, I whip up a box brownie mix and simply put the mint and chocolate layers on top. You can't miss with this one!

Oh my goodness...these are sooo good!! And so easy to make. I just bought the store brownie mix and then made the topping with the peppermint extract. If the frosting is too lumpy to spread, just add a little water to make it a little thinner. I also used melted mint chocolate chips as the top layer. It turned out great!!
