I don't know if it was just me, but mine turned out flat. It seemed that when I folded in the cocoa, the stiff egg whites deflated. The taste was good though.

So easy, and SO YUMMY! I didn't think they tasted like cocoa powder at all! I used a little less shortning than called for, and I didn't taste the shortning either. Maybe my palate isn't as refined... either way, this was my first meringue cookie recipe attempt and it was so good I shared it with all my friends on facebook, and I NEVER do that! When I make them again however, (probably tomorrow!) I might only glaze half of them, they are sweet and chocolately enough plain.

I don't have a pastry bag; I dropped them in tablespoons and added 5 minutes to the baking time, and they came out melt-in-your-mouth. Let them sit for awhile, because they come out of the oven with gummy insides but crisp up over time. I used semisweet chocolate chips in the glaze and didn't taste the shortening at all. These are quick and easy...electric stand mixer does most of the work, and they don't take hours to cook and cool like some other meringue recipes I saw on the site. Taste chocolatey and delicious! I can't wait to make these again, they're so simple!

I had some leftover egg whites and wanted to use them so I made these. I didn't really like them. They tasted too much like cocoa powder. I could also taste the shortening in the glaze. My husband and kids liked them though. I probably won't make them again.
