Rich, creamy and very chocolaty, this pie 's ingredients are simmered slowly on the stove until they perfectly blend and the filling is thick and ready to pour into a pie shell. The chocolate custard pie is topped with a glossy meringue and slipped into the oven.

Sugar, cocoa powder, eggs, flour, butter and milk are put in a cast iron pan and cooked slowly and until thick and luscious. A bit of vanilla is added, and then the filling is poured into a crust, covered with meringue and baked until golden brown.

This is a chocolate custard pie recipe my grandmother taught me many years ago. It's always a big hit at church functions, charity bake sales, or family get-togethers.

There 's chocolate chips, squares of unsweetened chocolate, and lots of eggs and milk in this creamy, rich pie. The filling is cooked up until thick and lovely and poured into a baked pie shell. It can be made two days in advance.

Unsweetened chocolate makes this pie rich and chocolaty. Eggs, butter, milk and sugar make it thick, creamy and sweet. The meringue topping and chocolate curls make it irresistible.
