I decided to make these cookies for Christmas to give out as gifts along with several other old standbys. However I must say I was a little disappointed. First off the cookies run and are not very fluffy if you just bake them after making the dough. I chilled the dough for about 2 hours after the first batch to see if it would help any. It did make a big difference. Also make sure you really shape them well in balls or else you will end up with a visually unappealing cookie... they spread into funny shapes that brown a lot on the edges. Also... I had my brother try the cookie without the frosting and he said it tasted like a weird pancake. So if you're going to make them... make sure and frost them. I ended up making a maple frosting that I found on another recipe on this site for frosted maple cookies. It made the cookies actually taste like maple cookies. Anyway... just my personal recommendations. Overall a decent cookie... not sure if I would make them again though.
