These turned out awesome. No pics because we ate them so quickly. Put a nice romantic touch on our evening which ended nicely. ;) I'd make these again for sure.

This is always a good quick recipe to do for Valentines. I did this for a dinner party we went to last night but didn't add the shortening which I thought was even better. Once the strawberries were dipped, I sprinkled chopped pecans on some, red & white candy sprinkles on others and some left plain. I also dipped banana pieces in the melted chocolate then drizzled peanut butter on each one. A HUGE HIT! Mind you, when I make my rumballs I do add veggie oil to thin out the chocolate.

Very easy and was a really big hit with the family, especially my little 2-year old nephew!! We also sprinkled a few dipped strawberries with some bits of toffee -- those were really good.

I didn't follow the recipe exactly, skipped out on the shortening, other than that it was really simple!

One step is missing. After the first 4 or 5 dips, the chocolate siezed. I'm now told by the resident chef that the strawberies had mositure on them. I should have dried them first to make sure they did not. That neds to be mentioned somewhere

Delicious. Replaced shortening with cooking oil at a 1:1 ratio, because I didn't have shortening. Also chopped up nuts to add as topping.

A great way to dress these up is to drizzle with honey and then a fine dusting of powdered sugar. It makes them really pretty plus it tastes great. Also, if you don't like to temper chocolate, there are bowls of chocolate disks you can buy that melt right in your microwave and are much easier to work with and tastes just as good. You can find them with the baking goods in Wal-mart and most other stores.

I agree with other reviewer's regarding the use of good chocolate. Instead of strawberries, I prefer to use raspberries. I had these at a wedding and the taste was superb !

The strawberries turned out beautifully !Thank you ! A hint for those of you that do not own a double boiler. I put a custard cup (it can withstand boiling water) in the bottom of the lower pan. Place smaller pot on top...much safer than trying to hold it ! I find it very safe!

So simple and delicious. My 4 yr old helped me make these and he had a blast. I do not use the double boiler method since I hate trying to hold a bowl over a pan of boiling water while trying to stir which is what I do since I do not have an actually double boiler. I melted the butter and chocolate over very low heat stirring constantly. This does tend to thicken the chocolate more so I thinned it with a little milk. It also helped cool the mixture so I did not bother with toothpicks just picked up the strawberry and dunked it. My son loved doing this plus he got to lick his fingers when we were all done!

These are so easy to make, and so beautiful. I also microwaved some white chocolate (almond bark) and drizzled on top of the hardened milk chocolate. I can't wait to surprise the husband and kids with this elegant treat for our Valentine's Day dinner!

I was going to buy a box of chocolate covered strawberries from a website for V-day... but $36 was WAY too much for just 6 strawberries. Using this recipe, I made 24 berries, and 12 chocolate covered grapes for just under $5! They were just as good as store bought! My husband thinks that I spent all day making them, but I only about 20 minutes on the whole project! And clean up was sooooo easy! For a little added flair, I put the berries and grapes together in Valentines Day themed cupcake foils, SO CUTE! Thank you for saving me money and making me look clever!

Fabulous. Chocolate chips come in 12 oz bags so I opted to just ignore the missing 4 oz's and they turned out FABULOUS! There was plenty of chocolate to cover 1 lb of medium size strawberries, I even had a little left over the I used to cover some raspberries. I can't wait to surprise my man with these Valentines Day.
