Flavor was nice. I did substitute part of the milk for some half n half I had on hand. Was nice and thick, but once it set up it was more like a jello jiggler than pudding.

My daughter (11) requested homemade chocolate pudding for her family birthday dinner. I've never made it before. But I will make it again! Great recipe. Everyone loved it. And so easy. What more could you ask for?! I did add about 2 tsp extra cocoa per other reviews. Yummy!

I really like this recipe, because all the ingredients are already in the cabinet or refrigerator. The first time that I made it, the pudding was a bit soupy. I took the pudding off the stove after it had just started boiling and it coated the back of the spoon. So, the second time, I made sure it boiled for a little longer. After a day, the pudding turned to jello.

This was a good, easy and quick recipe that I could make with items in my pantry. It did satisfy my need for a chocolate fix, but I would prefer it to be a bit more chocolatey. It also left a strange film in my mouth that I attribute to the amount of cornstarch in the recipe. I will keep searching for a better homemade chocolate pudding recipe. Update...2nd time I added a 1 oz square of semi-sweet baking chocolate at the end. Perfect chocolatey-ness!

This is so easy and sooo delicious and creamy! I have made it with the evaporated and regular milk and both are delicious. I also have used 3or 4 squares of baking chocolate instead of the cocoa. You won't make the boxed stuff again!

Made this as a surprise for my husband and son and what a hit! It was oh so easy and so rich and creamy! Next time I will add heaping tbs of cocoa, and maybe try evaporated milk. Hubby was impressed that it was from scratch, much better than boxed instant or cooked. This is a keeper!

I just finished making this recipe for the very first time, expecting it to taste just like my mom's homemade chocolate cornstarch pudding. AND IT DOES!! I'm surprised it didn't take as much time to make as I originally thought it would. The three "heaping" tablespoons really do make the difference like other cooks have mentioned. Next time, however, I will try to use either whole milk or evaporated milk since it was a little on the "thin" side. Otherwise, I am ecstatic regarding the way this turned out and I'm just psyched to tell mom about it. WOO-HOO!!

This is perhaps the easiest, yummiest pudding. It isn't as rich as some of the other cooked pudding recipes, but it has never failed me, tastes good hot or cold and is SO much better than instant!

So much better than instant, you can't even compare. Next time I will try with evaporated milk to make even creamier. I liked this better when it was first made and hot, but that is just the way I remember it as a kid. I pour a little cold milk on the top before eating, don't know why - that's just how we did it. Super easy!

Excellent taste and texture. Exactly what chocolate pudding should be. Very easy to make even for those who are recipe challenged. To those who complained of runny pudding, here's a tip: When cooking with cornstarch, if you must taste, use a clean spoon for each tasting. Never put the spoon back in the pot after it has been licked. Digestive enzymes found in your saliva will break down the cornstarch. Incidently this is also true for Cool Whip. Thanks Kelly.

I was having a serious craving for chocolate pudding but was too lazy to go to the store. So I did a search on allrecipes and this recipe came up. Who knew pudding was SO EASY to make from scratch? It was ready in 5 minutes and the recipe calls for simple ingredients that are on hand in most kitchens. I used the "mocha powder" from Starbucks in lieu of cocoa powder and it was delicious!!! The pudding is thick, not too rich, and very creamy. I will never buy the boxed stuff again.

This was wonderful. Followed others advice and placed plastic wrap over top while cooling to keep from skin from forming. Filled crepes with it. Yum Yum!

Yum! I tried this with plain soymilk and it was delicious! What is the purpose of those pudding mixes when the real thing is so easy and tastes so much better?

My family raved about the chocolatey flavor and I was delighted that it was so easy. I hid a red cherry in the bottom of each and let the top skin over. Our family tries to disturb the skin as little as possible as we try to get to the cherry! Started this tradition as silly kids and we still do it as grown "adults."

I love this stuff. I would give it 5 stars if it was suggested to use a can of evaporated milk in place of part of the regular milk. It really makes a difference. I use almost all of mine to make fudgesicles. So much better than anything you can buy at the store.

I made this last night and followed the recipe exactly. It didn't have enough chocolate flavor and was a tad sweet. I made it again tonight and added a tablespoon and a half more cocoa powder and it tasted much better. The sugar to chocolate ratio seemed more acurate. Even though it tasted much better than last night, I'm still not too sure that this is "the" recipe...I may keep looking. It is a very easy recipe and it thickens up nicely.
