Loved this recipe. I added some marshmellows when I put it into the dish just for some variation.

This is so creamy! As my son says, it tastes like hot chocolate. Homemade is so much better than boxed. Thanks for sharing.

made this recipe exactly as written and as a chocolate pudding it is excellent! trouble is, i wanted it as a chocolate pie filling and found it too runny for that even when i chilled it for 24hours. wonder how the others managed to get it to firm up?

Just like Grandma used to make. Full of flavor and very creamy. I made a double batch and I am glad I did, it is disappearing fast. And very easy to make. No more pudding from a box for me,this is so much better. Thanks for a great recipe. God Bless.

Fantastic!! I had been craving chocolate pudding for like two days and decided to make it from scratch instead of buying the boring box version. It turned out phenomenal and I'll definitely be making this again. As for my personal taste, I could have appreciated a little more salt but it was still very good. One great hint: USE A DOUBLE BOILER!!! However, when using a double boiler to make pudding: boil the water in the bottom pot on high FIRST before adding the top pot. While waiting on the bottom pot to start boiling, add all the dry ingredients to the top pot and whisk until WELL blended to get rid of any dry clumps. Once the dry ingredients are blended, add the top pot to the pot of boiling water and then add your milk a little at a time while whisking briskly. This technique will give you a flawlessly smooth texture without any clumps AT ALL. ENJOY!!

I loved this pudding, I too followed others advice and added heaping tablespoons of cocoa and it turned out fabulous, very flavorful. The kids loved it! I will make again.

Mmmmmm.....just lovely!! My "Ouma" (Granny in Afrikaans) taught me to make this pudding. The only thing I do differently is to add 1 or 2 Tblspns of brandy and, of course, the butter. I have also made the pudding with 1 cup less milk and, once cold, folded in 1 cup of whipped cream. No matter how you prefer it though, you can't go wrong with this pudding as my daughter has also been making it since she was 10yrs old.

AMAZING!!!! Best chocolate pudding ever!!! the butter really makes the difference!! I followed the recipes exactly, and it turned out perfectly. Once it starts boiling, it does thicken very quickly, so make sure you keep an eye on it! Really good with sliced bananas or with coconut. Even passed my picky daughter's test! She has never liked homemade pudding! Thanks for such an easy, fast, and delicious recipe!! Your mom would be proud!

What the heck did I do wrong here! Our pudding came out tasting like... I don't know, bland. Not really a "mmmm chocolate pudding" taste. The reviews are good so I gave it a three, but it honestly came out like a two. Maybe more cocoa powder?

I tripled this recipe, yes tripled, and it turned out great. I only had 2% milk and margerine so next time I'm going to use whole milk with some half and half, and real butter to make it richer but it was very easy and delicious this first time making it. My husband had never tasted homemade pudding and was blown away with the taste. He may eat all of it by himself in one night if I don't hide some in the freezer soon, LOL! Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Much better than store bought! The second time I made it, I used brown sugar and doubled the cocoa. I also reduced the cornstarch, so it doesn't go solid when it cools.

I loved this recipe! I followed another user's suggestion and used 1/2C brown sugar and heaping tbs of cocoa powder. The pudding turned out great! I cannot seem to stop myself from "sampling" it every time I'm near the fridge!
