This was a good, easy and quick recipe that I could make with items in my pantry. It did satisfy my need for a chocolate fix, but I would prefer it to be a bit more chocolatey. It also left a strange film in my mouth that I attribute to the amount of cornstarch in the recipe. I will keep searching for a better homemade chocolate pudding recipe. Update...2nd time I added a 1 oz square of semi-sweet baking chocolate at the end. Perfect chocolatey-ness!

I followed PLAYKITTENPIE's alterations (use brown sugar, up the cocoa to 3 heaping tbsp, decrease cornstarch to a little over 2 tbsp). I think next time I'll use a little less cocoa - it was a tad strong for me. I doubled the vanilla because we buy imitation, and I also added in the last few drops of (imitation) coconut extract and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Divvied it up into 5 parfait glass and they look beautiful! Once they cool, I'll top them with homemade whipped cream - "Whipped Cream," submitted by MOOZOGASSIR.

Yummy! Love the chocolate flavor of this pudding. It had a nice smooth texture. Yeah me!! But your arm will get tired. I think it took about 4-5 hours to cool in the fridge. So plan ahead if that is what you prefer. I didn't think about that and it wasn't ready for dessert.

WOW! This pudding is delish! I did take some advice from other cooks and put in less corn starch. Maybe 2 TBLS less. This pudding is now my go to recipe. Make it as the recipe calls for and you won't be disappointed.

The texture can be odd... It is delicious for the most part though. VERY difficult not to have clumps though. Be sure to whisk it constantly as it thickens.

Definitely my favorite chocolate pudding recipe. For variety, try adding miniature marshmallows to the serving bowl and pour the hot pudding over them. I would highly recommend using butter in the recipe, not margarine.

This was SOO good! I made it exactly like the recipe and it was yummy. Why buy pudding at the store (especially when you can't pronounce half of the ingredients), when you can make it from scratch at home. My family loved it. Thanks!!

This pudding is absolutely perfect, to say the least! It has a very raw chocolate taste to it, akin to the difference between store bought hot chocolate and homemade hot cocoa, this being the latter. I only had non-fat milk on hand, other than that I followed the recipe exactly. I was worried about over/under cooking it but I followed the advice of waiting till it coats a metal spoon, then cooked it a little more because it still looked runny. It does thicken upon standing, though. When I popped it in the microwave the next morning, it was as if I had just made it: still perfect. The only difference being that directly from the fridge it looked a little grainy, probably because of the non-fat milk. I have an aversion to undercooked eggs, so much so that it doesn’t matter how cooked they are, the outcome has to be absolutely solid for me to eat it; the cornstarch is genius. I won’t ever buy pudding again.

Very easy to make, and very delicious! You might try adding a 1/2 tsp of cinnamon if you like that sort of thing

This is wonderful! It was slightly strong for my taste (not bad though) so i added a good 2 table spoons of thickened cream after it had chilled and then it was absalutly perfect!! My partner lovesss the store bought stuff, so this is fantastic cause it tastes even better! :D

This is easy, quick and simply delicious. Me and my hubby loved it.I will definitely make it for a family gathering next time. Thanks. And Thanks PLAYKITTENPIE because on ur reviews I used a less amount of corn starch and it came out really well. And thank you too Kelly.
