I made this with white (vanilla) chocolate chips and left out the nuts. This gave the pie a slight butter scotch taste that my family loved! My oven runs a bit hot so I only baked for 65 minutes.

I followed the recipe as written except for the nuts because hubby doesn't like them. The only thing different I did was mix my eggs, dry ingredients and wet ingredients separate and then combined as told. I had to cover my pie about 20 minutes in because it was browning quickly...I just threw a loose piece of foil over it. I cooked it as stated...and then added 10 minutes..then 10 minutes more. The center did not come out clean and I was worried it would burn. I took it out of the oven and put it outside to cool (it does bake a bit more). We ate it while still warm and the pie wasn't runny at all, it was 'pie like'. It was good...VERY sweet and rich. Tasted more like chocolate chip cookie bars...or like cookie dough. It was good...would have been better with vanilla icecream!
