Chocolate Chip Oat Bars
SUBMITTED BY:
Kim Wills
"In Sagamore Hills, Ohio, Kim Wills stirs up a big panful of these chewy oat squares loaded with nuts and chocolate chips. The sweet bars are easy to prepare, and they cut cleanly when cool to make serving a breeze."

Excellent! The crust and topping is a little bit dry, and I would recommend you do what was suggested and add in at least another 2 T of butter. Note that this is the same recipe as "Chocolate 'N Oat Bars" except this one says "cold butter" instead of "softened butter." The flavor is excellent and it is fairly easy to make. I LOVED them. A friend who doesn't generally like oatmeal (I didn't realize) really liked them. My preschooler daughter thought they tasted like peanut butter and wouldn't eat them. LOL Overall, tasty and easy. I will make them again for company.

These get five stars for being super quick and easy and still really tasty! I used milk chocolate chunks. You get a flat, chewy, chocolatey bar. Be sure not to overcook though, or I think they could easily get too hard.

I baked these for a quick dessert for my family and they were a big hit. My husband, who usually is not a big dessert eater, had about 10 bars! (And, he is not overweight.) This will definitely stay in my recipe box and will become a holiday standard too!
