I received massive kudos on these. I made them in a glass pie dish (deep dish kind) and it took longer to cook them all the way through than the recipe states but they were nonetheless amazingly delicious. I followed previous advice and cut the sugar by a 1/4 cup simply because of the marshmallow sweetness. I also used Splenda and it didn't affect the end product at all. (It actually surprised family members when I told them I used splenda.) Also: definitely use butter! I couldn't even imagine how yucky these would be made with shortening. I used light butter and that worked just fine. was told they were 'sinfully' delicious. excellent recipe. will definitely remake.

I love these! They are gooey and soft on the inside, slightly crispy on top. The next day they are still soft. I cut out 2 T (I use margarine) and decrease white sugar to 1/2 cup because of the sweetness of the marshmallows. These are SO good! Try using mini-chocolate chips.

Good! I added white chocolate chips, too! I used a smaller pan, so mine were very thick, but still chewy! Before I cooked it, I was a little skeptical with the dough, since it seemed dry, but it came out very well!

I took the advice from another posting and used butter instead of shortening. I agree that the recipe is better with the butter.

I followed the recipe and used shortening. Boy, do I wish I used butter...these were great, I used them for a cookie exchange with my girlfriends, but butter would have took them to the next level.

Very easy - looked good and were gone before I had more than a bite myself. I was out of semi-sweet and used milk chocolate chips instead and it was fine.

I normally do NOT like marshmallows, but I LOVED these bars! My kids totally love them. As many had suggested, I reduced the white sugar by 1/4 c. and used margarine, not shortening. Also added some ground flax seed (to sneak in something healthy). Fabulous. I'll be making these again.

I can not tell you how good these bars were! They did not last. I did make some slight changes. I used butter instead of shortening, and took out the nuts. Just not a fan of nuts in my cookies & brownies. I also decided to add in some white chocolate chips. These were awesome and I will make again.
