These were delicious. I didn't add the glaze, choosing to add the extra chocolate chips to the batter instead. Very moist and very tasty!

I loved this recipe. So did my husband and little boy. I did not add the shortening to the final chocolate just melted it a little and drizzled it over the top. This would be a great recipe for a potluck or picnic. Also great with ice cream!

These were delicious and got eaten really fast at a party!!! BUT the drizzle doesn't drizzle!!! So I had to smear it around...

Not only are these super convenient to make and delicious, clean-up is a breeze! I also used butter cake mix (Duncan Hines Butter Recipe Golden) and mini-chocolate chips for a slightly different look. Instead of the drizzle, I just sprinkled more chips on top of the hot bars and let them melt.

Wow - these are fabulous! I used a butter cake mix (had onhand) and opted not to do the drizzle this time - ridiculously easy and insanely good! I either inadvertantly baked at too low a temp or it just took mine longer to set, b/c I ended up re-baking about half of them the morning after and it worked out well (I was afraid they'd harden up like rocks, but the middle of mine were simply too gooey to be safely ingested, so I didn't really have a choice. I think I just baked them at 350 originally, but even re-baked, they turned out soft and yummy!) Our pool lifeguards appreciated the treat (I made them originally for a group outing that got postponed, so I had to give a large plate to someone - otherwise I'd inhale them all!)

This really didn't do much for me. I made it for a bake sale, and followed the recipe exactly. I had one bar for myself, 1 for my husband - he liked his quite a bit, but I thought it was waaay too sweet. I won't be making these again.

Well, this one received mixed reviews. My four-year old, who eats everything plain, loved it. My 6 year-old picked at his piece. My husband and I both agreed that we'd rather just have either the yellow cake or good old Tollhouse chocolate chip bars. This is not to say that these are awful. We're not going to just throw them away! :) But the texture and flavor of these just did not do anything for the majority of us. Thanks for sharing the recipe, though!

I didn't drizzle chocolate over the top or use nuts, but I did put all of the 2 cups of choc chips into the batter. They turned out excellent! Husband devoured them. Will make again for sure.

Very easy, very good, very rich! This is my new cookie bar recipe for good. I would recommend serving in small pieces. It's versatile so you can add or omit whatever you like in terms of nuts and chocolate chips. I myself omitted the nuts and added half chocolate chips and half plain M&M's. I was very short on time so I also skipped the glaze even though it looked delicious. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

My husband loved these more than any other dessert I've made recently. I loved them also. I happen to really like the taste of boxed cake mixes, so this was the perfect mix between that and chocolate chip cookie bars for us! I left out the nuts, increased the chocolate chips, and didn't bother putting anything on top. Yummy!

I used a butter recipe cake mix, and it came out tasting like artificial butter. Perhaps a regular yellow cake mix would be better. Also, it was very sweet but without very much depth of flavor (other than fake butter). I think adding a little salt and using dark brown sugar would help the overall flavor.
