I just made these for a party I am having tommorrow night. I tried one and it was good. Like everyone else, my cherries sunk to the bottom. Unfortunately, I did not use paper baking cups. So, Im still trying to figure out what to do about that. Next time I will only use one cherry per cupcake, and use paper baking cups!

Great flavor combination, and easy recipe which I would rate 5 stars with a few changes I will make next time. I followed this recipe as written. I think the teaspoon of filling is a bit too much because the cherry filling was pretty much at the bottom of the cupcakes. I put 2 cherries in each with some of the liquid filling. Next time I will put only one cherry, with some filling, and I think that should correct the problem. I may also use frosting made from scratch, and definitely refrigerate these if not serving at once, because the cherry on top really "bled" into the frosting overnight, and caused the frosting to get a little runny. These are really good besides the few minor problems I had, I love chocolate & cherry flavors together, I will make these again. Thank you for sharing (:

Great concept and execution. I was even able to make it a lighter version. I used the reduced sugar Devil's Food Cake Mix, substituted applesauce for the oil, and used the reduced sugar cream cheese frosting. DH loved it! My only suggestion is put the cherries more towards the middle to bottom of the cupcake because if they are towards the top...the top tends to collapse.

I really liked the idea of cherry filled cupcaked so I HAD to make some today. I realized that i didnt have chocolate cake mix or baking chocolate in the cupboard so i used yeallow cake mix and added chocolate chips instead. I love them! I did not have the "sagging" or the cherry falling out problem that other reviewers had so i think it was because of the chocolate chips. I used a cream cheese frosting off this website. They were great.

These were so easy to make and turned out wonderfully!! I followed this recipe EXACTLY and I did not have any problems with the cherry filling coming out of the bottom at all. I filled the cupcake cups a bit more than I usually would which helped with the cherries staying inside the cakes. Also, I frosted these with chocolate icing because that is what I had in my cabinet! They were so rich and delicious. A huge hit!!

These were unbelievable! After reading the other reviews, I only put one cherry in the middle and added extra pie filling. I also used cream cheese frosting and placed a cherry on top. The only “complaint” was after a day or two, they started to "sweat" and the frosting started to melt. (It’s my own fault for not eating them all at the same time but either way, I have no idea how to fix that.) I may try to use maraschino cherries to top next time and see if that helps. Overall though, these were fantastic and my hubby already wants me to make more. :)

These received mixed reviews, so it's kind of hard to rate them. They seemed to be a love them (some aid they were the best cupcake they'd ever eaten) or hate them (my dad didn't finish his) cupcake. I'm on the fence w/them (the texture is a little weird to me...the wetness of the filling at the bottom of the cupcake) personally, but will probably make them again. Very easy & I followed the recipe to a *T*, though I did add a little marischino cherry juice to my home made butter cream to give it a pinkish tint and a slight cherry taste.

These cupcakes were easy to make and very yummy. The only problem was that they were very messy. The cherries inside fell out as soon as you un wrapped the cupcake! I haven't tried to fix it, but maybe someone else can. All things considered, though, they were very tasty and moist.

I love the combination of cherry and chocolate, and I could see the potential in this recipe. However, I was a little frustrated that about 1/3 of the cupcakes were sagging a bit because the cherries had dropped to the bottom. I had spooned in a tsp of filling, which was about 2 cherries. I'm thinking that the cherries were too heavy. So next time, maybe if I spooned one cherry and half a tsp of filling sauce, it won't sink. I will try this recipe again.

I made these cupcakes for a party last weekend and they were very good. I used a chocolate fudge cake mix and cream cheese frosting. My only "issue" with them was that the cherries sank to the bottoms of the cupcakes; I'm not sure what could be done about that. Everyone seemed to enjoy them nonetheless, and I will probably make them again.

Easy. Beautiful. Delicious. Different. All good reasons to try these. Follow directions for baking time on back of cake mix box. I frosted with a vanilla buttercream frosting and decorated with Valentine sprinkles. I was proud to send them with my husband this morning for his staff! Thanks for an easy, yet creative twist on the typical boring, cake mix cupcake!

These are good, but not spectacular. I'm spoiled on the self-filled cupcake recipe on this site! These are a nice twist if you want something a little different for your kids birthday party or school function. I'm not a big fan of canned pie filling, so I think next time I'll use plain ole maraschino cherries.

I made these cupcakes for my daughter's class - "The Teacher's Birthday" - and the teacher loves chocolate! Didn't want to make "the same ol' boring chocolate cupcakes" so I found this recipe. I added 1 small box of instant chocolate pudding to a fudge-like cake mix and frosted with Betty Crocky Rich and Creamy Cream Cheese frosting - WOW!! The only change I'd make is the cooking time - took only about 14 minutes for moist cupcakes. They looked beautiful - "black forest cupcakes" is another great name for these!!
