I followed this recipie exactly and used creme de coacoa liquer. The cake I made was a practice run to make sure it would be good enough to take to a family dinner. It most definately passed the test! Yes, it is very rich and chocolately, but that was the effect I was going for. I am definately making this cake again.

I just made this cake following the recipe exactly except that I subbed mini chocolate chips for the regular ones and grand marnier for the coffee flavored liqueur. I made two 8" rounds and frosted with chocolate ganache recipe (posted by taste of home test kitchen?) from this site. The cake turned out extremely chocolaty rich (in a bad way) and not that moist. To be honest it was gross. There was also a strong alcohol flavor. I read rave reviews which is why i chose to make this cake. I wonder if i did something wrong, maybe overcooked it? The cake was easy to make, but I won't make it again. It was not great at all.

Oh my goodness. This was the best chocolate cake I've ever had. I followed the recipe exactly, except that I made cupcakes with it. They were so moist and gooey, even after I put some of them in the fridge. No need for frosting at all. I took the cupcakes to work, and everyone raved about them. I may try adapting the recipe so that I can make it from scratch and without the mix, but it's not at all necessary. This cake is awesome as it is!

I will NOT be making this again! I have eaten 7 pieces in 3 days. If I don't literally throw it in the trash tomorrow I will destroy myself! It is sooooo good!

Delicious, moist and easy cake. I made this for my daughter's 18th birthday and it was a big hit. Very chocolatey and dense. As in the photo, I sprinkled it with powdered sugar and put some beautiful strawberries in the centre (and candles on top, of course!). Thanks!

If you love chocolate, and don't mind the fat and caloric overload, have at it! It was good, but not fabulous. Extremely chocolaty, rich, oily, and dense. Nothing exceptional, but it was decent. Would I make it again? Maybe, but doubtful.

Awesome, easy and quick even for me. I've made it twice, once with an old pan that produced a wonderful tasting pile of cake with half of it stuck in the pan. Bought a new pan (Bakers Secret) recommended by Cooks and the second try was great. I took it to work and brought back only crumbs.

Followed the recipe exactly & with wonderful results! This is an extremely rich and moist cake that doesn't require frosting or glaze on top. A dusting of powdered sugar was perfect. This recipe tastes so much "harder" than it actually is to prepare.

WOW!!!! Made this for a friend's birthday as individual bundt cakes, served dusted with powdered sugar & topped with glazed strawberries! It was amazing!!!! The only thing I changed was to use light sour cream, substituted apple sauce for the oil (an old trick I learned years ago to make cakes not only healthier but moister too!) and used Bailey’s Irish Cream (had on hand) instead of coffee liqueur. It disappeared! My guests even asked to take home the extra mini bundts! Only suggestion, serve while still warm to get the full yummy, gewy, chocolate-y-ness!

This was super yummy and rediculously rich! Definately need to eat it with a tall glass of cold milk. I used Kahlua and cooked it 10 minutes short of the instructions given (my oven runs hot). It came our perfectly! Thanks!

Holy cow, that's a good cake! Kept pretty well to the recipe except used Ghirardelli 60% cocoa chips and Godiva instead of Kahlua. Yum. Thanks for the recipe.

I made this cake, using Caramel Baileys and added some fresh raspberries to the batter. Before serving warm, I drizzled it with black raspberry liquor. My husband said it is the best cake he has ever had! Will definately make this one again, and again.

Used Kahlua and mini choc chips. Neighbors all loved it and one of them took the rest home. Her college-aged daughter shared it with her friends at school. This one is a keeper and I will be making it again. Used a bundt pan and made sure to grease and flour so it didn't stick. Might try using cocoa powder so you don't see the flour. Put powdered sugar on top as seen in the pic. Might try making the satuny glaze from this site as it was a it on another chocolate cake. Will make this again.
