This was tasty! I also tried it using a peanut-butter-ball recipe for the center and liked it even better! They are very impressive.

These are so cute! I loved the idea. I had never worked with almond paste, I was pleasantly surprised with the taste and how easy it was to work with. Putting the almonds in the paste is a bit time consuming but well worth it. After drizzling the chocolate I realized I like them better without the chocolate. They look more real. BUT they are still very cute and I had fun making them. A little rich for my taste but husband like them!

These were incredibly fun to make. Yes, it was tedious sticking the almond slivers into the almond paste, but it was a relaxing and creative way to spend an hour. I made three. Next time, I will take another reviewer's advice about using a certain brand of almonds (don't rememeber which), to see if that helps. I didn't dip them in chocolate; I spooned the chocolate over them, refrigerated them for about 30 minutes, then dusted with powdered sugar and placed them in a woodsy setting of nuts and blueberries. Next time I will use a soft basting brush to paint the chocolate on and hope that gives a more even, artful look. White chocolate could be fun, too! Also, almond paste is expensive and hard to find. In my store, it was by the condensed milk.

This is a brilliant idea that hangs on the competency of the maker. In my hands it was terrible, but I shan't penalize the recipe for shortcomings.

I thought these were pretty neat looking. I would make them with the intent, though, to decorate a cake, cheesecake, or yule log. They take a little time to make and almond paste in a can is a little expensive. It took me about an hour, sitting at the dining table, to finish all 6. I found that Diamond brand sliced almonds were the thickest, and got the best results. The chocolate dipping part was the most difficult trying to coat evenly. Adding some crystalized sugar or even powdered sugar, after they harden from the fridge or freezer, would hide any flaws though. Either way, they looked kool, so it gets 5 stars from me.

Takes a little while, but worth it, they look so cute for decorations. Will make again.

If you love the taste of almonds, these will blow you away! I love them. We dust ours with a little powdered sugar for a "snow covered" look.
