Recipe is bland, like everyone said. I added one clove of very finely diced garlic and it perked it right up. I also used less chives.

Great texture! I would say these biscuits have a very mild taste - wouldn't necessarily call them bland, however I did add some parmesan along with the cheddar cheese and used cold butter for the shortening. Good alongside my Chicken Primavera. If I want a biscuit with more savory flavor than "regular biscuits", I'll make these again.

The chives were overpowering, and yet the biscuits still seemed bland. Maybe cut back a bit, and add some Parmesan cheese as another reviewer said. Brushing with melted butter helps.

this was easy enough to make, but it just really lacked in overall flavor. it definately needs something to punch it up. the one thing going in its favor is that these biscuits are nice and light. i don't think i would make these again.

These were really easy to make and turned out fine--just a bit bland though. I think I will brush them with garlic butter before serving to add a little more flavor. I also added 1/4 cup of grated parmesan which helped add a little more cheese flavor. The shortening keeps them nice and light.
