This is great chili. I did not add the 4 peppers called for, but add one teaspoon of chipolte powder. I also only used a heaping tablespoon of the brown sugar. It turned out great.

Just made this for my family and they loved it! They said it was the best chili I have ever made. Wonderful with corn bread or quesadillas

I won 2nd place in a chili cook off with this recipe. My fiance can't stop talking about how good it was, and I've promised to make it again. I didn't have a problem with it being too sweet, as some reviewers suggested, but I did make it the day before I served it. Only change I made was to use two cans pinto beans and two cans kidney, instead of four cans kidney. The only reason I did that is just because I really like pinto beans :)

Great chili! With a few mods, my coworkers and I took home the champion trophy at a chili cook-off...when none of us had EVER made chili before!!!!

Excellent mix of flavours. Perfect for a wintery day. Very good for reheating the next day. Goes great with a dolop of sour cream or shredded cheese.

This turned out excellent I added 2 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce (Embasa brand) and 1 cup of chopped sweet potatoe to this recipe and it was a huge hit. I loved the sweetness of the potatoe! Excellent recipe

WOW! I was very pessimistic about the dark beer, coffee, and cocoa powdeer but this recipe was really good. Maybe next time I would decrease the dark beer by half for personal taste. Also, I tried to find chile pepper but after going to 2 stores, I gave up my quest. Next time I would like to use the peppers since my dish lacked spice. I'm not complaining though because my daughters can't handle the heat. Served with Fiesta Blend Cheese and sour cream.

I am an avid cook, and love to try new recipes. When looking for a new chili recipe, this one appealed to me because it had over 1000 reviews and 18000 saves. As suggested by some earlier reviewers, i made the recipe exactly as per the instructions the first time (except that i used ground turkey and chopped chicken rather than beef). For peppers, i used a poblano, a jalapeno and a cubanelle. i made it one day in advance because the consensusa among prior reviewers was that the flavors melded better over time. This is one of the most delicious and richest chilis that i've ever had. Everyone loved it. I started a new batch tonight using leftover turkey from our Easter dinner. Not sure whether i'm going to try canned chipotle chilis or use a few poblanos. Either one would work and would add a different dimension to the chili- which i think is what i like the most about this chili, it provides a great base from which you can personalize to suit your family's tastes
