This is the tastiest chili I have ever had. I have been to several of those chili cook-offs and they all tasted very bland compared to this recipe. We have made it several times and my husband keeps asking for more.

Not that this needs another review, but it was delicious! The only change i made was instead of the cocoa and the sugar, I just grated and tossed in some semi-sweet chocolate i had in the fridge. Way to go!!!

This is the only chili I make..never any leftovers I have to hide a bowl if I want one the next day. I'v made a couple of changes tho. Instead of using ground beef and cubed serloin. I use 2Lbs of stew beef cut up into about 1 inch cubes. cook with onions and garlic just until browned. mix all the ingrediants as directed.I also add 1 tsp of cinnamon. verry tasty!!! I cook it on a crockpot about 6 hrs. for best results cook in a cast iron pot hanging from a tripod over an open fire.I serv the chili over fritos with sour cream and sharp chedder cheese on top. Just remember from there on out it will be your job to make the chili !!!!

Never had a chili quite like this, and while the ingredients are a bit different, the combination of flavors is awesome. I tweaked it just a little... added a little more meat, used 2 decent sized chopped jalapenos (with the seeds), and at the end, added a little water and flour just to thicken it slightly. Everything else was done exactly to the letter. The heat was perfect for my family's tastes, and the beer/coffee/cocoa give it a wonderful flavor. This is now my favorite chili!

This is the BEST chili recipe. I typically use all ground sirloin. I've made it with ground turkey too. Everyone RAVES about it when I make it!

Truly great chili recipe. This could almost be a "copy-cat" recipe for the Steak 'n Shake restaurant chili, which is highly regarded. Just finished a bowl of this "Cincinnati Style" and it really took me back to my midwest/upper south roots. I made one pre-emptive change, which is that combining hamburger with chopped steak basically is still just hamburger. I substituted 3/4 pounds of pork loin chops for the sirloin. I chopped them finely in my food processor. Another thing I do is once the meat/onion mixture is browned, I throw it back in the fp for another spin to really mince it finely and bring out all of the meat flavor (creates more surface to mass, basic chemistry). When you combine beef and pork like this the meat sensation will really "pop" - try it in your pasties, shepard's pie, red sauces, etc. Otherwise I went strictly by the book. And what a good book it was. This is a real keeper of a recipe and I can't wait to try it tomorrow after it's had time overnight to "gel."

Okay, I admit the list of ingredients left me skeptical but peaked my interest enough to try this. When I first made this 2 years ago, my husband saw me adding beer, coffee, and chocolate and gave me a look like I had lost my mind. But after taking his first bite, he was hooked!! We make this several times each winter (Arizona is too hot to have this any other time) and each time the family loves it. My family back in Mississippi heard me raving about it and asked me to make it when we went back "home" for Christmas. I made it with deer instead of ground beef and they all were impressed with the outcome. I will look no further for a chili recipe...this is a keeper!!

I changed to 20 servings for a superbowl party- it was almost gone! everyone loved it. Since I changed to 20 I did cut down on the onion and jalapeno peppers- I added 3 onions instead of 5 and 3 jalapenos instead of 10- came out great!

I made a few changes/additions to this chili and won a chili contest on SuperBowl Sunday with it. Making chili was never my thing, and this was the first time that I had ever made chili for others to eat. Great recipe!

This is fantastic. I made this for the first time today and I can't stop eating it!! I don't normally like spicy food, but, the flavors in this chili are out of this world. Everything goes together so well and makes for the best chili ever! I will never make another chili recipe. This is a keeper!! Thanks so much!

I love this Chili. I've made this recipe as is several times, but have adapted it to my taste. Instead of jalapenos I use 2-3 canned chipotles(I like the smokey flavor), also add 2-3 more cans of white kidney beans because I like more beans. As with any recipe it's an excellent base recipe you can make your own
