I have got to say this was easy and very good. I toasted the buns first and used double the amount of chili. Served it with onions and mustard on the side. Yummy. I will make this again.

I cannot believe how easy this recipe is. I was worried the hot dog buns would be soggy but they were very crisp and delicious. Thanks.

This was pretty tasty. Used all 10 hot dogs from the package and probably more chili (used homemade). Forgot the mustard. Had request for the recipe from a potluck, so that tells you it's a good one!

This was good. Exactly what I expected. I used more hotdogs than called for, 2 cans of chili, and only half the amount of bread. And I put the mustard on the hot dog buns. Not gourmet fare, but tasty. I will make this again.

I made this using the suggestions in Deana Manfredi's review (first one below the recipe itself). Nice recipe for a busy-day supper and I made it when our three grandchildren were visiting. I think, however, that it would have been better if I had either A) used the hot dog buns, or B) used only one package of Jiffy mix. There was too much bread and too little meat mixture. Whether you decide to with the cornbread mix or the buns, do use at least two cans of chili, and do add cheese. I think adding some chopped dill pickles would have added something as well. Still, my grandkids liked and it was easy for me, so I'll probably make it again.

This was a pretty good recipe. Like other reviewers have said, it definitely needs two cans of chili. This is a great potluck recipe.

I agree with many posters that this could use a bit more chili. Many people commented that the buns were "too hard". I didn't find this to be true. Some of it depends on what type of chili you're using and how you spread things over it. I covered it completely with cheese, which I think prevented the buns from getting too hard. The edges were a bit harder, but it reminded me of toasted buns, which I like. I have made this several times, and will continue making it in the future. After the first few times, I did start doing it in an 8x8 pan and halving the recipe, since it does make quite a bit.

Great recipe. Not as messy as eating an actual chili dog. Easy to throw into tupperware for lunch at work. I didn't mind that the bread got soggy. Used two cans of chili. My son ate it as leftovers two or three times, which he rarely eats leftowovers at all.

This is a great, quick weeknight recipe. Not very healthy, unfortunately, but you can make it a little better for you by using fat-free franks and turkey chili. I only used half the bread called for, and added two tablespoons of ketchup, which I drizzled over the top with the mustard. I used colby/jack cheese because I didn't have any cheddar. This was excellent and my family, hubby included, loved it. I think I'll leave out the mustard over half the casserole next time to suit my picky six year old -- when she saw the mustard, she didn't want to eat anymore. My 10 year old maintains that it's the best casserole she ever ate.

4 stars because I modified it, using the instructions/modifications that Deana Manfredi listed below. The kids LOVED it...the cornbread topping really gave it something special. I don't think they/we would have liked it with any type of bread or buns on the bottom. Thanks for the great idea though, never had thought of doing it in a casserole. I also added a sprinkling of shredded cheese on top of the cornbread.
