I agree with others...don't add extra salt! A good soup for a cold day!

I love chicken tortilla soup, but this one left me feeling a little blah. I think the big problem is that the ratio of chicken broth to salsa is too high. I really was wanting more flavour. I think next time I will half the chicken broth and or double the salsa and play with it. Maybe even add in some diced tomatoes. Make sure to use fresh chili powder. Also would use lime instead of lemon juice for a more authentic soup. I agree with previous reviewers - throw it all in a stock pot and leave it overnight and then shred the chicken. That process worked great.

cooked the chicken using the salsa chicken recipe on this site. Then just put into the pot with the broth, corn, garlic and more salsa and added the chips when done. My son doesn't like onion and it was still good without it. Also didn't have lemon juice. It was excellent!

Made in slow cooker adding cooked chopped chicken breast and drained canned black beans. If you like a little extra in the soup, can add extra corn and rice on the side for those who want it in their bowl. Excellent for Sunday lunch after church.

I made 25 servings todays. Having some friends over for football. I added blackbeans, rice (not much) and a little flour to thicken the stock. I think it tastes great. I also took someone else's info and used the pace medium salsa. With the cummin and medium pace salsa it def has a little kick.

I can't live without this! I make this often and generally add black beans. I also blacken the chicken and add red pepper which gives it a little more spice!

My husband and I love this soup. I cut the amount of onion to about a 1/3 of a cup and sautéed it adding garlic, diced rotisserie chicken breast and the remaining ingredients. I tried a couple of different salsas but my favorite so far for this soup is Pace Medium Chunky salsa.

My cupboard didn't have all the ingredients, but I was craving this soup, so the soup pot ended up with turkey sausage (for chicken), diced tomatoes (for salsa), and also doubled the cumin, lime juice, and corn. My picky husband thought this was a "5"...

This is a great recipe, and after making it a few times, I have found it tastes awesome in the slow cooker (just add all ingredients minus the cheese and tortilla chips). I was able to toss in the chicken breasts frozen and then shred them up a few hours later once they were nice and tender. I also used the juice of one lemon and half of a lime (it really kicks up the citrus flavor). I added a cube of tomato boullion (I used Knorr) as well as a seasoning packet that contains tomato and cilantro. It turned out soo delicious with the extra seasoning. Next time I am going to omit the corn and use a can of hominy instead. Also, I have eaten it both with and without the cheese and tortilla chips. I actually like it better without, but it's great to leave them on the table if people want to add their own.

Very good! I shredded the chicken and used canned corn instead of frozen. I also cooked some rice and added it to the bowls when I served the soup.
