I was really looking forward to making this recipe, but was disappointed. I didn't feel like it had any flavor, even though I added additional seasonings. It was easy, but I won't make again. Thanks anyway!

Love this recipe - so easy and good! Added 1tsp cumin and salt. Also added cilantro at the very end...will make again!

This was my first time ever trying hominy so I wasn't sure what to expect but this soup was great. I liked that mine was almost a chili-consistency since I cooked it down longer than suggested. I also added more spices (cumin, more chili powder and a packet of Sazon tropical). This was really good served with shredded cheese, avocado and cornbread.

I LOVE this recipe. My boyfriend tells me all the time this is the thing he craves the most (I told him today I was feeling under the weather and making soup and he perked up instantly!) I add cumin and a little hot sauce and only added a little chiles, this is the first time i attempted to use canned chiles and they wern't that great. I mix this recipe up every time (ive made it at least 5 times) I use it and it tastes great no matter what!

Awesome soup! I added lime juice, cumin instead of oregano, 1 can of Rotel tomatoes and extra corn.

The soup was awesome! It's not really tortilla soup, it's kind of a mixture of different soups all in one. Even though I wasn't sure what to call it, we really loved it! I cut the chicken into pieces and cooked it in the oil with the garlic and onion and then just dumped in the other ingredients. I used 2 cans of chicken stock and no water. Everything else I left the same. Cooked it for an hour. I will be making this soup on a regular basis.

Amazing recipe! I did make a few changes like the others had suggested, and added some extra heat with more chili powder. I can't wait to try this again! Thanks for the great recipe!!

Like many people this is also one of my favorite soups. I have made it many times and in various ways. If I want it to be soupier I add more chicken stock (my husband likes it like this) and I usually use fresh green chills that I sauté with the onions and garlic instead of the canned. I have also made it omitting the hominy when it is not available in m cupboard.... I do like it better with the hominy but if you don't have it still do the recipe, it is amazing! Thanks.

I use homemade chicken broth and omit the water. I use pinto beans insteaed of black and omit the hominy. I add the green onion at the end while the soup is still simmering. Lots of changes, but a delicious soup thta can be adapted endless ways.

Amazing. I used 1/2 cup of mild salsa rather than the chili peppers and was just as good. I also used two cans of chicken broth and three cans of water, for some extra broth. Still tasted great! Also, fresh cilantro is a must! So fragrant!

This is delicious! I just throw everything in the crockpot (except the tortilla chips) and cook it for 7 hours on low. Then I take out the chicken and shred it. I use bought tortilla chips, put those on the bottom of the bowl and pour the soup on top and garnish with cilantro and avocado. I did make a few substitutions: doubled the chicken stock, added a can of mexican salsa and used cumin instead of oregano. I never have any leftovers!

This was good but not spicy enough for us. I will omit the water next time and if I need more 'juice' I will use more chicken broth. I did add a can of Rotel tomatoes, didn't have hominy so added a can of Garbanzo beans which worked out really nice.

AWESOME! The only change I made was to omit Hominy -- did not have any on hand. I topped my bowl of soup with sliced avocado and a dollop of sour cream. I also added a bit of lime juice and cumin to the pot of soup while it was simmering. Will definitely make again.

Loved it and it's now a favorite. I did leave out the hominy, though. Didn't have it on hand. I freeze the leftovers, but it doesn't take too long before I'm thawing them out for more soup.
