Chicken Noodle Casserole I Recipe Reviews - Allrecipes.com (Pg. 11)

My family and I really enjoyed this. I have a 3yo and a 12yo and they couldn't get enough. My husband said I needed to make this on a regular basis. I did add some fresh steamed broccoli and a layer of sharp cheddar cheese before putting on the cracker crumbs. I love this recipe because there is so much you can do with it. For the chicken I pan seared it first then added water to cover. To that I added half an onion, some chopped celery, and three cloves of smashed garlic. When the chicken was done I took it out of the broth to cool. While the chicken was cooling I strained the broth brought it back to a boil and cooked my pasta I used bowtie. I also used my dutch oven. This recipe is a winner and will be in regular rotation in our household.

This was excellent with the changes mentioned in the other reviews. I think it needed the vegetables and extra spice.

This is an excellent casserole. I have made this one for years. My kids love when I make it. I use bread crumbs (loaf bread) broken into pieces and butter poured on top instead of cracker crumbs.

LOL!!! I have almost this exact recipe and was thinking of making it tonight. Decided to go to good old All Recipes.com and WALA this recipe was one featured at the top!!! Must be an omen!! The only thing I do different is I add a can of chopped green chilies. Gives it a little mexican flavor!!!

I loved it! I used rotissary chicken from the grocery store in place of poached chicken. Great flavor. I think I will make some adjustments next time, such as adding some mixed veggies - but overall it was a hit!

Hands down the easiest meal to make! And best of all, the man of the house loves it (and so do his kids). I poach my chicken in chicken broth and add my own herbs. Tastes super!

Oh No - out of Cream of mushroom soup so I used Cream of Chicken and Cream of Broccoli (which stinks in the can - but smelled wonderful when it came out of the oven), a can of mushrooms and half a bag of frozen veggies. Since I forgot to thaw out the chicken - duh... I used two cans of canned chicken breast from Costco! Cooked the whole wheat penne in vegetable broth. Wow! Easy peasy - and fantabulous! 1/4 cup butter was enough for the crackers on top and I added 1 tbsp or so of Parmesan cheese to the butter mix. Ohhhh laa laa - so good and I'm glad I found something to put that darn canned chicken in besides sandwiches! Dawne - this was the best chicken noodle casserole I have ever made with or without any modifications!!! Btw - the reason I love to read the reviews is because I get ideas to switch things up if I'm out of an ingredient! LOVED YOUR RECIPE!!! Loved the reviews! Thanks to all of you for putting your modifications as a side note!

Great recipe with some modifications as previous reviewers suggested. Saute onion and chicken before substituting broth for water to finish the chicken. Very tasty.
