It wasn't bad but I thought it tasted a lot better before adding the last several spices..

Great recipe!! I modified it slightly by adding sweet chili sauce instead of chili powder. Everyone in our family loved it. We served it with rice, falafel and creamy cucumber salad. We will definitely have this again!

Apparently I don't like Indian food - this was my first experience trying indian food and I thought it was absolutely horrible. I usually like spicy foods - but I like heat from fresh peppers, and this was a different kind of heat. I thought the tumeric was disgusting - it turned the chicken yellow which was unappetizing and also had a strange flavor to it. Sorry for the bad review - but I have to be honest, I will not be making this again.

I'm glad I stumbled across this one. My husband loves this blend. When we are due for chicken, he prefers this base, all the flavors come together really well. Its like eating out. Thanks. Excellent Recipe.

I agree with everyone here. This was a very nice balanced recipe. My only regret is that my friends in America find it very hard to obtain proper Basmati rice to go with any of these Indian recipes. They market a rice which they have borrowed (some say hi-jacked) the Basmati name in the USA which is nothing like true Basmati. Luckliy here in the UK we can obtain the very best Basmati. I submitted a photo for this Jalfrezi and it looks as good as the meal tasted. Full rating for this one.

This is good stuff. Wonderful flavour; nice heat. A tad salty for me; next time I'll cut the salt by a 1/2t.

This recipe is perfect. Really. I made it for the 2nd time last night, fed it to a guy friend of mine, and he fell in love with me."This is the best home cooked meal I'd ever had." He said with tears in his eyes. Hahaha! After his second helping -- he said if I made it for him once a week he'd have to marry me. I've made MANY dishes for him, but never got this kind of reaction. This is so far my favorite and his. I let others taste it and they've always called me back to get the recipe. The only things I did differently is -- used regular butter instead of ghee, cut the chicken into bite sized peices, and when finished, spooned over basmati rice. NOTE: Indian spices are much cheaper and better tasting when bought from an Indian market. I have a new found love and respect for Indian food.

This is sooooo good! I did a few things differently though. I used skinless boneless chicken breasts. I cut them up in cubes. I cut the salt down to 1/2 teaspoon. I used regular butter too. I didn't cook the tomatoes until the juice evaporated. I wanted it to be a little soupy. I served this over couscous. Yum!

I made this last week with minor modifications. I used chicken breasts, fresh tomatoes, added 1 cup of chicken broth (half with the tomatoes & half toward the end to make more sauce), and some cayenne (maybe 1/4-1/2 teaspoon? I just shook it in until it looked right) & used 4 cloves of garlic. I also threw in a small can of green beans toward the end. Served it all over basmati rice. Fantastic! I made this with a friend and we both loved every bite of it. We had to force ourselves to stop eating so that we would have leftovers for lunch the next day (tasted great reheated, but the cilantro lost a bit of its zip after being microwaved). If you like Indian food, I think you will like this recipe. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I find this recipe rather strange. In England,a Chicken Jalfrezi is a firey dish made with green and red peppers and plenty of chillies/chilli powder.Maybe us English have just butchered the original recipe,(Indians living in Britain have created new curry dishes to suit our palates that are unheard of back in India),but i advise you to add bell-peppers to this recipe as its not only more health, but adds fantastic flavour to the dish.

This was good, but I'd change a few things. The turmeric was a bit overpowering, and I don't really care for its bitter flavor. I'd reduce. Also, although the sauce was flavorful, I think I'd want a little more of it. I would either reduce it less or add more tomatoes. Other than that, it was pretty good, and I will try it again with the modifications. I usually don't like to mess with a recipe too much the first time around!

Can I just say - WOW! I love all the different flavors in this recipe. I really like that all the flavor comes from the spices and not fat! It was even better left over the second night! I find that cilantro loses its great flavor when it is cooked so I just used some fresh chopped cilantro as a garnish. I also used chix breast cut into strips and it was great. I wish I could give this dish 10 stars!

So good! I'm so happy I tried this. The aroma and flavor is so complex and spicy without being hot. I didn't have time for rice, so I made couscous, which of course is Mediterranean, not Pakistani. Still went great. Hubby kept eating even after he said it was giving him heartburn! Anyway, thanks for the recipe, can't wait to make it again!
