I know this is a highly rated dish, but for me it came out soggy and had little flavor. It may be my inexperience but I followed the recipe exactly.

My family really enjoyed this. The garlic is not overwhelming and the flavors meld beautifully together.

Two words: astoundingly delicious. Boy, was this easy to make without fussing around in my kitchen. I had to tweak it slightly because I'm a college student and didn't have fresh mushrooms or chicken broth on hand. Instead, I added chopped onion with the garlic, and a can of cream of mushroom soup when adding the vinegar. The resulting sauce was so wonderful my roommates were ranting about it while licking their plates! This recipe is a keeper if there ever was one!

I would give this 10 stars if I could! It was WONDERFUL! It's my favorite recipe on this site by far! And it's so easy to make. I pretty much followed the recipe exactly, but used italian seasoning instead of thyme because that's all I had. I served it with spinach mushroom risotto and it was to die for! The leftovers were even better! My whole house smelled like a fine dining experience! Thank you for this recipe! It will be in our weekly rotation!

This recipe was really good. I chopped the garlic before adding it to the pan. My hubby loved it too.

This recipe had a strange taste that I didn't care for. I did use good quality balsamic and followed the recipe exactly... just not my thing I guess.

Followed the recipe to a tee and no one in the family found it to be to salty. The flavor was great. Can't wait to make it again.

Delicious and easy - it quite nearly cooks itself! Perfect for company or a weeknight dinner. I would, however, caution against the recommended amount of balsamic - the sauce is a little sharp. Use a bit less/more chicken broth.

This chicken was delicious. I left out the step with the flour to make it a little healthier. I highly recommend this!

Very good, but if you go too far with the balsamic, you could easily just end up with balsamic chicken. It will have the tendency to override the delicate herbs completely. If using bouillon instead of broth, use NO salt and cut even further back on the balsamic. Also, I doubled the thyme and bay to counter the bouillon saltiness, as well as using a bit more water to dilute it a bit. The flour, I put in at the very end using a little sieve, tapping a bit here and then a bit there and stirring it in without lumps. I think I used about a tablespoon all told. A little goes a long way. I cooked oyster mushrooms that I had cut long and thin (to resemble noodles) separately in 4 tablespoons of melted butter, a 1/4 cup white wine and 1 crushed clove of garlic and used that as the foundation instead of noodles as shown in the photo. It made for an interesting change from the same old same old noodle/rice/potatoes routine. And the earthy tones balanced the sharpness of the chicken nicely. I served this dish with gingered carrots & dates (found on allrecipes) and we drank a Provençal rosé. I will be making this meal again in the future. Bon apetit!

I thought the flavor was wonderful. My husband thought it was good but that the sauce was a little oily so maybe cut down on the olive oil next time. The kids weren't huge fans but then again they rarely are...

I've done this several times now and love it. I prefer not to cook the liquid additionally at the end, so it's less thick. No matter how you do it though it's a delicious dish.

Pretty good. Didn't change the ingredient amounts but omitted the flour step like others. I screwed up at the end because it seemed the liquids needed to be thickened to be more "saucy" so I added cornstarch. Well, it was too much and the mushrooms ended up tasted "gummy" like they had congealed with fat on them. I would try this again and I'd be able to make it a 5 star.

This was very good. I agree with those who suggested cutting the vinegar in half. I didn't have any thyme, so I substituted Herbs de Provencal and it was very tasty!

Wow, I am so happy I found this. I haven't actually tried to make it. But last week when I was walking through my apartment building, I smelled someone cooking something delious and I wished it was coming from my apartment, but I thought my husband was for sure not cooking. But it turned out the smell was from my apartment! I saw something that looked like an attempt at chicken stroganoff. What I tried was THE BEST sauce I've ever tasted. It was amazing, I was so confused how he made something so good, I felt embarassed of all my past dishes. I'm on his computer now and the only receipe in the recently viewed is this one... he got the receipe here! I don't know if he followed the directions exactly or not, but I do know he added a little sour cream at the end. This receipe is amazing. SO thankful I know how to make it now :D
