I adore these cookies! As much as I like to use butter in cookies, there are just some recipes that require shortening. By the sound of the reviews, this is one of those recipes (plus, I like my cookies thicker). With the shortening and brown sugar, the texture is SO much like brownies. Very chewy, with a crinkly top. I used mint and dark chocolate chips (limited edition left over from the holidays) for a nice mint variation. Whenever I want to make double chocolate chip cookies, this is the recipe I will reach for from now on!
