Baked Fresh Cherry Pie

If you've never eaten a fresh cherry pie, you're in for a treat. It's a bit of work to pit the cherries, but once this is done, there's not much left to do to make the filling: just mix the cherries with almond and vanilla extracts, sugar, tapioca, and a pinch of salt.

Who would have thought? Blueberries and cherries in the same pie. But they 're divine together. You 'll have to pit the cherries, but it should be a labor of love. The berries are sugared, dusted with flour and cinnamon, and dotted with butter. The oven takes care of the rest.

Sweet, thick and full of cherries, this pie is irresistible. The filling is whipped up from a classic combination of canned sour cherries, sugar, flour, and almond flavoring.

Don't have any cherries? Never fear! Cranberries and raisins can be combined to make a double crust pie so delicious your guests won't even notice!

For this simple, slightly piquant pie, ground cherries bake up wonderfully with sugar and spices and doused with fresh lemon juice. Look for these gems at your favorite farmers market and bake up a pie or two.

You'll be able to tell that this is a prize-winning recipe. The crust is flaky and buttery, the cherry filling is thick and perfectly sweetened, and there's a lovely hint of almond extract.

This is a sour cherry pie recipe that is SO simple I can put it together and get in the oven in less than 10 minutes. The hardest thing about this pie is tracking down canned sour cherries but if you look carefully, you can find them in most grocery stores. When the pie is served, top with vanilla ice cream to add the element of sweet to the sour!
