I've been making this bread every year around Christmas time for about 5 years now. I can't believe I haven't rated or reviewed it yet! Anyway, this is fabulous, it's moist, sweet, and so delicious! My whole family loves it, it's one of those things I have to make every year, if I don't then I really hear about it. It's an easy recipe, although it's a bit time consuming, but so worth it in my opinion. I do sub regular 2% milk for the buttermilk, but other than that I follow the recipe exactly.

I thought this tasted good, but it just seemed like a lot of work for just an okay bread.

This bread was delicious. I used coconut milk instead of buttermilk, and cherry pie filling instead of maraschino cherries, because that's what I had on hand. The bread was a light pink color from the pie filling, so it made a good Valentine's day treat! I love the pound cake-like consistency.

My husband and I love cherries and thought this bread was delicious. I think it tasted even better the day after I baked it. I will definitely make this again for Christmas next year.

I substituted for maraschino cherries one bag (8 oz.) dried Traverse City cherries soaked in very hot water, then chopped) at time to add. These loaves were the hit of the party and have shared the recipe with many!
