For those who rated the recipe lower b/c YOU admitted to changing/messing up the recipe that shouldn't result in a low rating :-\ I made it as instructed (I used muffin cups instead of mini loaf pans) and while I'm not too much of a fan of chocolate combined w/ banana, these were good.

I had to make three loves of it because i didn't have a big enough pan for all of it. It is good.

I made this at Christmas time last year and took into work and this year they were asking for it again. I did make a couple of changes. I didn't have mini chocolate chips so I used regular size white chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of Cherries and Pecans.

Goodness- so delicious! I changed it slightly- I used 1/2 cup fresh cherries (quartered) instead of dried, and folded them in so that it wouldn't turn the batter pink. I also omitted the nuts. I turned them into muffins, and cooked them for 30 minutes at 375- made 12 very full muffins. SO tasty- a definite keeper!

My neighbor, who was the recipient of one of these loaves, just called to tell me it was "the best banana bread I ever had!" I'm not sure I would go quite that far, but it is tasty. As other reviewers mentioned, it takes a while to bake all the way through--I had to put it back in the oven because it was still gooey inside when I cut it open even after a toothpick came out clean. (I used mini loaf pans.)

Great recipe - the only change I made was using regular maraschino cherries instead of dried ones. The loaves were very moist and tasted yummy!

I am giving this recipe a 5 as my mini loaves turned out awesome, but I should probably submit my own recipe since I made changes to make this a bit more healthy. I did not have 4 loaf pans the size indicated but had 8 mini loaf pans that this recipe fit nicely into, so I altered my baking time (reduced) based on that. I reduced the butter and added unsweetened applesauce, reduced the sugar, used 2 egg whites with one egg, changed the flour to use white and whole wheat and left out the nuts since my family does not like them. So, as indicated, I should really submit my own recipe. These were fantastic and made 8 perfect little mini loaves!

This tasted great, however had a problem with the middle cooking inside. I guess you really do have to use mini loaf pans. I had a small loaf pan but I guess that didn't work. I think using 1/4 of the cherries and chips is just fine. Where the bread cooked itself complete it was yummy. I will try this again.

OK, I'm giving this a 4 because I'm assuming it would taste better if I hadn't messed it up! As I made it I'd have given it a 3. Here's what NOT to do: First, I do not have any mini bread pans so I made this in a standard loaf pan. Problem is that it doesn't make enough dough for 2 pans but is too much for one pan. So it took forever to bake in the middle and the top got quite crispy! Second, I added a cup each of dried cherries and chocolate chips. Too much. I think 1/4 cup as called for is too little, so compromise with a 1/2 cup of each! I do have to say I found the bread itself a little bland, but that could just be a result of all the other problems I had taking over the taste! So, make these as mini loaves and they should be fine. Hope this is actually helpful to some!
