I used Gold potatoes as suggested by some reviewers - one note would be to leave your potatoes in very big cubes/chunks - they cook so well in the hour that mine ended up too mushy when I added the ranch. Taste was still outstanding but the texture was like mashed potatoes...will definitely keep working on this one though! Thanks for the recipe!

Only reason I gave this 4 stars is because I think it called for more butter than necessary - a bit greasy - however, this was sinfully good and if you make a slight butter adjustment this are definately a 5.

These potatoes were good! I would recomemmend less ranch dressing (half a bottle instead of a whole one) and a little more seasoning, overall. Also, we used gold potatoes instead of russet ones, which turned out nicely. I will make this recipe again, only with the changes I listed above.

OMG! I made this tonight and it was sooooooo good! A definite crowd pleaser and kid friendly. I also used seasoned salt, and a Monterey Jack/cheddar mixture-all that I had on hand.

I mostly followed the recipe & took a few tips from the reviews. I reduced by half for our family size & used a 2 lb. bag of baby red potatoes because that was what I had on hand. I combined the dry seasonings in a small bowl, put the cubed potatoes in a ziploc & poured 2 tbsp. of melted butter on potatoes then added the seasoning mix. Much easier to make sure everything is coated that way. I also did follow the suggestion & substitute seasoned salt for regular. This recipe was very simple to make & flavorful. Thanks for sharing it!

Try using Gold Potatoes instead of russett. Since submitting this recipe a few years ago, I've switched to using Gold and I love it even more. I've also decreased the amount of butter to 3 tbsp. I've added in crumbled bacon a few times. I'm glad so many of you have liked it.

I made this for a potluck and everyone was asking me for the recipe. I only use 1 tbspn of butter, I add a bit of garlic powder and I add bacon bits to the top right before serving for a bit of a crunch. Other than that I follow what the recipe asks for and its a bit hit!!

This recipe was great. I made a few additions but the basic concept is good. While the potatoes were in the oven, I cooked some bacon and then fried some onions in the bacon grease. I mixed the dressing and cheese into the potatoes and then topped it with the crumbled bacon and fried onions. I also added some diced jalapenos(jar) to the top because we're a spicy family. It was great.

AWESOME, thats the word to describe these potatoes. And so easy! Its just my husband and I so I bought 3 large idaho potatoes and used about 2 tb of butter a cup of cheese and just mixed in ranch until I was happy. Didn't use the chili poweder, neither of us likes spicy stuff. Mine did stick to the bottom, BAD. I even pamed it! Dunno what happened. So they were a bit mashed lol. Thanks for the great recipe, try it yall!

Very tasty. I used only 2 tbsp of melted butter, which was plenty. I also added crumbled bacon when I mixed in the ranch & cheese. I will definetly be making this again. I think next time I won't add so much chili powder.

I halved this recipe for my family of five (no leftovers.) Two large potatoes worked fine in a 9x11 pyrex dish. I used seasoned salt instead of plain, cut the butter down to 2 T., and added crumbled bacon with the Ranch & cheese.

I love this recipe.I pretty much did everything the same except I put the potatoes in the microwave for 3 minutes just to cook them a little.I also used seasone salt instead of plain, like others.I added 1 tsp.garlic.Then I mixed cheddar and colby-monterrey jack cheese and bacon bits together and put that over the ranched potatoes. It was awesome, some friends came over and wanted to try them and loved them so much they added it to their recipe box.
