Was a very yummy & easy side to our grilled bugers. I agree with many of the other reviewers & think the butter can be cut down on some without sacrificing flavor. I used a mixture of jack cheese, sharp cheddar and american cheese. Perfect for a large group---could easily be kept warm in a crock pot.

Very good! I only used 2 Tbsp. butter because that's what I had left with the stick I was using, and because I read the reviews that say to use less. I do believe that the butter is unnecessary though, because when you eat it, there is a puddle of grease/butter left on the plate from it. I think I used a little less ranch than was called for too. I thought it was just fine, but my fiance added ranch to his, but to be fair he adds ranch to everything :P...Oh, I think I should add that the potatoes turned out PERFECT, because every time I cook with potatoes, I'm worried that they'll be dry, but they weren't at ALL. I know I can't be the only person that worries about that! I would definitely recommend it, it's really good. It seems like one of those dishes you'd make for a family reunion or something.

Delicious! As per the other reviewers - I omitted the butter. I just tossed the chopped potatoes with a bit of olive oil and the seasonings it calls for. Thanks for this easy, yummy side dish!

Very good! Will make time and time again. Cooked potatoes in microwave instead of oven, was much quicker that way.

Very good! I used reduced fat ranch, and added a small yellow onion. Note: Forgot to add that I omitted the butter just greased the dish with olive oil.

Pretty good.... even better the next day. Definitely not the healthiest potato casserole. I probably won't make again.

These were really good, kind of reminded me of a chili-cheese-fry casserole : ) Per other reviewers I left out the butter and just tossed the potatoes in a little olive oil. I used four medium potatoes, 2 tsps chili powder, 1 tsp salt and a few shakes of pepper. I didn't measure the cheese or ranch dressing, just kind of eye-balled it. These were fabulous. The cheese does make them kind of greasy, but they never said this was a diet recipe : )Good stuff, nice change of pace and easy to make. Thanks for the recipe!

These potatoes are very tasty, I followed the recipe as written. I left the skins on and cubed the potatoes a bit larger, so they took about an hour and 15 mins to bake before adding the other ingredients. I greased my baking dish with olive oil, and after I added the dressing and cheese, baked for about 10 minutes more. I think next time I may add some finely diced onion & fresh parsley to the potatoes as they bake because I felt it lacked some flavor. Thanks for sharing :)

This is a keeper. Yummy. So simple to make and filling enough to be a meal in of itself. I added some leftover ham I had on hand but it would be just as good without it. And really, I think you could customize the flavors anyway you like using a different spice and different creamy salad dressing.

Didn't like the ranch but enjoyed the taters & cheese. Next time i'll skip the ranch and maybe add some bacon bits. Thanks for the yummy side dish!

I completely omitted the butter and used some olive oil instead - you don't want the potatoes to dry out and you want the spices to stick! It turned out really well. I guessed on the cheese and ranch since I didn't make four pounds of potatoes. This is great!

This was ok, but likely won't make again -- I just couldn't get past the butter and entire bottle of dressing. It was overpowering. But a nice try though.

I didn't add any butter after reading other reviews of it being fine without it. I just greased the pan with a thin layer of butter then coated the potato's in a little olive oil. Everyone liked them. I could't even taste the ranch on them though? Could be because I had to let them sit covered for about 30 minutes waiting for the BBQ to be done. The ranch got soaked into the potato's I guess. Only the flavor should have still been there. Next time I might try a packet of ranch seasoning. I also added crumbled bacon and green onion on the side. If I use the ranch seasoning pack next time, I think I will also have some sour cream on the side.

Boy was this a hit!!! The first time I made it, I made it as written. It was good but very greasy. The next time, I just tossed the potatoes lightly in oil. They were still a bit greasy because of the cheese, but much better. My husband (who is hard to please) instantly requested that I make them again. Score!

I'm only giving this three stars because it was soooooooo greasy. It was very good but the pool of oil that it was sitting in almost made me not eat it. You can even see all the grease in the picture I took. I didn't use as much butter as the recipe stated and still very greasy. Will make again just change it a little bit.
