Definitely a crowd-pleaser, but it was much heavier than I typically prefer. It can easily be made with half the butter, low-fat cheese, and low-fat ranch. Nobody misses a thing!

Awesome!!! Tried this on my hubby and kids first, they gave it a thumbs up. Next I made this for a huge family party and everyone raved about and wanted the recipe. The only change I made was using peeled redskin potatoes - I just think they hold up better to the the baking process than the russets. We needed a new potatoe dish and this was just what the doctor ordered!!!

Husband and I loved this dish, my picky 10 year old didn't, but I'm not sure if he actually tried it or just looked at and decided (which he does quite often). I did change one thing, instead of using butter, I mixed the potatoes and seasonings in a ziplok bag with olive oil - I wanted to make it a little healthier.

Made this for a church pot-luck today.....I, my husband, and my 2 year old all thought this was excellent (I peeled the potatoes and followed the directions exactly). I didn't hear any comments, but judging from the empty dish....everyone else must have liked it, too!

No offense, I may have done something wrong, however, at the suggestion of another reviewer, I tried these as they were "better than the creamy au gratin potatoes (which I found hard to believe). My daughter and I found these to be not only unattractive but a extremely mushy and just not to our liking. But, that's just us.

As is - I gave it 4 stars. It was very yummy but swimming in butter when all was said and done - YOU DEFINITELY NEED LESS BUTTER! I loved its flavor - but literally served it with a slotted spoon to drain some of the butter off each serving. Next time - 1/2 the butter for sure! The flavors were delicious though and I will make it again.

This was a big hit at a b-day party I went to this pass weekend for a 7 year old. All ages went back for more. I use bacon ranch dressing and crumbled bacon on top.

These were good. I left the skins on my potatoes and wished that I'd peeled them. The potatoes were tender after only 45 minutes....too done really, and I was worried that I'd cut the chunks too big. I only used 4 tablespoons of butter and it was still greasy. Good flavor though and such an easy recipe. We all enjoyed them. I think that if I cut the butter down further, peel my potatoes and cut the baking time down more, this is a dish that I would use for company or potlucks. Thanks for the recipe.

This was really good! I just need to remember to read ALL reviews before trying something - was definately a little too greasy and I should have left the skins on because the potatoes were a litte mushy. Overall a great recipe though, thanks!

WOW! This are great! My husband goes crazy for them every time I make them. I cut the recipe down to 4 servings & used: 1 1/4 lb potatoes, 1/2 t chili powder, 1/4 t salt, 1/8 t pepper. 1/3 C cheese, 1/3 C Ranch & no butter I just sprayed the pan with cooking spray. Very delicious. I make this with BBQ pork. Thanks for the wonderful recipe.

I already reviewed this once, I just wanted to add a suggestion -- instead of using plain Ranch dressing, try one of the flavored varieties now available. I used "Spicy" last time I made this, and it was delicious!

Delicious and easy--you will not be disappointed! After reading several reviews with tweaking suggestions, here is what I did to produce the delectable result: I cubed red potatoes, leaving the skin on. I cut the butter amount by 1/3, and sautéed 1/2 cup chopped onion in it until softened. I then added the seasonings, and poured the mixture over the potatoes in the casserole dish, tossing to coat. After baking, I added 1/4 real bacon bits, along with the cheese and dressing, to the potatoes. The dish accompanied charcoal grilled hamburgers--a VERY tasty meal! I will definitely make this potato dish again and again.

Not as good as it sounded. Took to a potluck dinner, and NO ONE even finished their first serving. Came home with 1/2 pan left over.
